Michael Hawkins...PRs in both the hammer and the javelin
Raptor javelin, hammer throwers compete at Delaware Invitational
NEWARK, Del. (April 9, 2026) – The Rutger University-Camden outdoor track & field team sent its javelin and hammer throwers to competition on the first day of the Delaware Invitational, held Thursday at the University of Delaware.
The Scarlet Raptors came away with seven PRs, including two apiece by freshmen
Michael Hawkins and
Muhammad Elijah Samad-Muhammad. Samad-Muhammad finished fourth of 25 in the javelin (47.02 meters) and 16th of 20 in the hammer (27.81 meters), while Hawkins was 15th in the javelin (33.09 meters) and 18th in the hammer (26.67 meters).
Junior
Dyheim Watson placed fourth in the hammer (43.49 meters), while freshman
Monroe Hall was 13th (a PR of 31.63 meters) and sophomore
Emannuel Richardson was 14th (31.24 meters).
In the javelin, junior
Aaron Lee finished sixth (a PR of 44.89 meters) and freshman
Justin Harms was 10th (38.11 meters).
On the women's side, senior
Kayla Franklin finished fifth of 30 in the javelin (32.64 meters) and 11th of 28 in the hammer (32.48 meters). freshman
Arianna Lalli and
Asha Pensa Johnson finished 16th and 18th, respectively, in the hammer, with Lalli throwing 28.09 meters and Pensa Johnson having a PR throw of 26.15 meters.
Junior
Mya Cabanas Montero also competed in the javelin, finishing 20th with a throw of 18.18 meters.
The Scarlet Raptors will return to Newark, Delaware on Friday to compete on the final day of the Delaware Invitational.
