Gannon captures All-NJAC Softball Second Team honors
CAMDEN, N.J. (May 1, 2026) – Junior
Alana Gannon (Clayton, NJ/Clayton) has been a key player on the Rutgers University-Camden softball team since her freshman year, but the Scarlet Raptors' third baseman had a breakout season this spring.
Gannon's accomplishments have earned her a spot on the All-New Jersey Athletic Conference Softball team, released today.

Gannon was named the NJAC Second Team third baseman after a season in which she started all 32 Rutgers-Camden games and led Scarlet Raptors in hitting (.367), at bats (98), hits (36), runs (19), total bases (46) and slugging (.469). She finished second on the team in doubles (6), triples (2) and on-base percentage (.417), while collecting eight RBIs, eight walks and going 2-for-3 on stolen base attempts. She also added one sacrifice fly and one sacrifice. Defensively, she had 38 assists and 24 putouts, while helping to turn three double plays.
Gannon ended the season with an eight-game hitting streak, going 11-for-28 (.393).
Gannon played four different positions during her rookie year in 2024, earning NJAC Rookie of the Week honors on April 15. She became the Raptors' third baseman in 2025, when she led the team with 18 runs scored and tied for first on the team with two home runs and one triple.
In her three seasons at Rutgers-Camden, Gannon has compiled a .289 batting average in 94 games (77 starts, including 62 starts out of 66 total games the last two years). She has scored 46 career runs, produced 72 hits, 17 doubles, three triples, three home runs and 33 RBIs. She owns a .418 career slugging percentage and a .349 on-base percentage.
A Health Sciences major, Gannon was a member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the 2024 Spring semester.
During her scholastic days at Clayton High School, Gannon was a four-year letterwinner in softball, soccer and as the wrestling team manager. She also added one letter in indoor track. She was a three-time All-Conference player in softball, capturing First Team honors as a sophomore and a senior, sandwiched around Second Team honors as a junior. She led her softball team to three sectional championships (sophomore, junior and senior seasons) and state titles during her sophomore and junior years. She also played on the Clippers' conference championship soccer team as a senior.
Academically, Gannon was a Principal's List, Honor Roll and National Honor Society student at Clayton, who also served on the Student Council.
