Thomasson, Pensa Johnson compete at G. Larry James Last Chance Meet

GALLOWAY, N.J. (May 8, 2026) – A pair freshman women from the Rutgers University-Camden outdoor track and field team participated in the G. Larry James Last Chance Meet here Friday, looking to improve on their top season performances.
 
Talia Thomasson competed in both the 100- and the 400-meter hurdles, while Asha Pensa Johnson participated in the discus throw in the meet held at Stockton University.
 
Thomasson placed third of four athletes in the 400 hurdles (1:10.17) and third of three in the 100 hurdles (16.75). Her top times in those events this spring were 1:08.35 for the 400 hurdles and 16.65 for the 100 hurdles.
 
Pensa Johnson finished sixth of 14 athletes with a discus throw of 34.78 meters. She set the program record of 42.85 meters on May 3 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, when she earned NJAC First Team honors by finishing first of 28 athletes.
 
Thomasson and Pensa Johnson will join several other Scarlet Raptor teammates on Saturday at McDaniel College when they compete in the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
