Biography

Steven Schneider completed his first season with the Rutgers-Camden indoor track team over the winter, competing in both the shot put and the weight throw. Schneider, who heads into his second outdoor track season with the Scarlet Raptors, also owns two basketball letters at Rutgers-Camden.
 
Indoor Track 2014-15: Competed in five meets with the shot put, while also participating in the weight throw at three meets…Had his best shot put of 10.85 meters (35-7.25) at the season-opening Bow Tie Classic (Dec. 6), finishing 22nd of 46…At the St. Joseph’s Invitational (Jan. 17), set a program mark in the weight throw with 10.93 meters (35-10.50) to finish 14th of 25…Also fnished 13th of 27 in the shot put (10.34 M/33-11.25)…Placed 14th of 28 in the shot put (10.06 M/33-0.25) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 7)…Finished third of 12 in the weight throw (10.27 M/33-8.50) and 13th of 26 in the shot put (9.75 M/32-0.0) at the Albright Invitational (Feb. 14)…Closed his season at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship (Feb. 26), finishing 17th of 24 in the weight throw (10.34 M/33-11.0) and 22nd of 28 in the shot put (9.62 M/31-6.75).
 
Outdoor Track 2014: Joined the track program late in the season and participated in two meets, the WCU Open (April 25) and the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship (May 3-4)…Threw the discus and javelin in both meets and also competed in the shot put (9.75 meters) at the NJAC meet on May 4…Finished fourth in both the discus (34.59 meters) and javelin (48.42 meters) out of 21 and 15 competitors, respectively, at the WCU Open…Placed fourth of 10 in the javelin (50.78 meters) on the first day of the NJAC meet and finished 11th of 19 in the discus (35.02 meters) the following day.
 
Basketball 2013-14: Played in 23 games, starting four…Averaged 6.0 points (fifth on the team) and 1.0 rebounds…Notched 16 assists, five steals and four blocked shots…Led the team in three-point field goals, shooting 38-for-109 (.349), the 15th-best three-point field goal percentage and the 11th-most treys in the New Jersey Athletic Conference…Shot 15-for-21 from the foul line (.714)…Scored in double figures on five occasions, including a career-high 14 points against Rowan University (Nov. 26), when he also set his career high with four rebounds…Shot 4-for-6 from three-point range in that game and was 5-for-7 from the floor overall…Tied his career rebounding high of four and also had a career-high four assists against The College of New Jersey (Feb. 10)…Blocked one shot on four occasions – against Eastern University (Dec. 16), Lehman College (Dec. 29), New Jersey City University (Jan. 15) and Ramapo College (Jan. 25) – to tie his career high…Notched 12 points apiece in games against Rowan University (Jan. 29) and Kean University (Feb. 8), hitting 4-for-7 and 3-for-7 from three-point range, respectively.
 
Basketball 2012-13: Played in 18 games, all off the bench…Averaged 6.2 points and 1.3 rebounds…Chipped in with 11 assists, 11 steals and one blocked shot…Finished second on the team in three-pointers with 27, shooting 27-for-82 from long range for a .329 percentage…Shot 4-for-5 (.800) from the foul line…Overall shot 40-for-108 (.370) from the floor..Didn’t make collegiate debut until the Raptors’ eighth game, against Berkeley College (Dec. 8), when he scored three points and added three rebounds and one assist…Played every contest the rest of the season, including the next game when he scored nine points (3-for-4 shooting, all from three-point range) against Richard Stockton College (Dec. 12), adding one rebound and one assist…Collected his career high of 10 points against New Jersey City University (Jan. 9) and tied it against Rutgers-Newark (Jan. 16) and Kean University (Feb. 2)…A long-range scoring threat, collected two or more three-pointers on nine occasions…Set career rebounding high in the Dec. 8 game against Berkeley and tied it against both Ramapo College (Jan. 19) and William Paterson University (Feb. 9)…Had a pair of assists against both Rowan University (Jan. 23) and in the Raptors’ second meeting against The College of New Jersey (Jan. 30), when he also set a career high of four steals…Blocked his lone shot at Kean University (Jan. 5)…Notched eight-point games against William Paterson University (Jan. 12), Baruch College (Jan. 14) and The College of New Jersey (Jan. 30).
 
High School: Earned six varsity letters in a variety of sports at Eastern Regional High School, playing football, basketball, baseball and track & field…Won the Group 4 South Jersey discus championship…Earned Captains Awards for both basketball and track & field…National Honor Society member.
 
Personal: Born April 25, 1994…Hobbies include playing ping-pong…Nursing major at Rutgers-Camden…Steven is the son of Jon and Elena Schneider of Berlin.
