Jake Collette-Nippins returns for his fourth and final season with the Rutgers-Camden men’s tennis program. During his junior year, Collette-Nippins was named as the program’s Most Dedicated Player and earned a berth on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s All-Sportsmanship Team.
The only returning player on the Scarlet Raptors’ roster, Collette-Nippins will serve as the team captain this spring.
In three seasons at Rutgers-Camden, Collette-Nippins has posted an overall record of 25-35 (11-18 singles, 14-17 doubles). As a sophomore, he was the lone Scarlet Raptor with a winning overall record (11-10), while helping Rutgers-Camden earn its first-ever berth in the GNAC playoffs and capture the GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award as a team.
Collette-Nippins has been a member of Rutgers-Camden’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the Spring 2016, Fall 2016, Spring 2017 and Fall 2017 semesters.
Tennis 2016-17: Posted a 5-6 record at fifth singles, including a 1-2 mark in GNAC play, and teamed with Khoa Ly to record a 5-5 mark at third doubles...Named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team…Earned honors as the Most Dedicated Player in the men’s tennis program…Was named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on April 10, 2017 after earning shutouts in all of his matches during a pair of 9-0 Raptor victories over Albertus Magnus College on April 8…He won his first match at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-0, and took the second match by an 8-0 score, while also teaming with Khoa Ly at third doubles to win a pair of 8-0 matches…Posted a pair of wins against John Jay College (March 8), earning a 6-4, 6-0 victory at fifth singles and teaming with Ly for an 8-0 win at third doubles…Won an 8-5 decision at doubles with Ly against Penn State-Abington (March 25)…Captured a 6-1, 6-1 singles victory against Neumann University (April 17) in a match where the Knights didn’t have enough players to field a doubles team…Closed the season at Lehman College (April 23) by earning a 6-1, 6-0 singles victory and teaming with Ly for an 8-4 doubles win.
Tennis 2015-16: Posted a 5-5 record in singles and a 6-5 mark in doubles for an overall 11-10 season…Was the Raptors’ No. 6 singles player throughout the season until moving up to No. 4 for the team’s GNAC semifinal match at Ramapo College (April 30), where he lost 2-6, 2-6…Went 5-4 at sixth singles and 0-1 at fourth singles…Owned a 6-4 mark at third doubles and an 0-1 record at second doubles…Posted wins at sixth singles against John Jay College (March 19, 6-0, 6-2), Haverford (April 2, 6-1, 6-1), Albertus Magnus College in GNAC action (April 16, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-6), College of Staten Island (April 25 , 6-3, 6-1) and GNAC rival Rutgers-Newark (April 27, 6-4, 6-4)…Teamed with Onkar Singh to go 6-4 in doubles, including 6-3 at third doubles and 0-1 at second doubles…Went 0-1 teaming with Drew Delengowski at third doubles, dropping an 8-9 (4-7) heartbreaker against powerful Haverford College (April 2)…Teaming with Singh at third doubles, won four of their first five matches including wins over John Jay College (March 19, 8-0), Stevenson University (March 26, 8-3), GNAC rival Albertus Magnus College (April 16, 8-6) and Berkeley College (April 20, 8-6)…Also posted wins at third doubles against Staten Island (April 25, 8-4) and GNAC foe Rutgers-Newark (9-8 (7-5) on April 27).
Tennis 2014-15: Compiled an overall record of 4-14 during the fall and spring seasons…Went 0-1 at both singles and doubles in the fall, playing at the Kings Invitational (Sept. 14)…Went 1-6 playing fourth and fifth singles in the spring and 3-6 as part of the second and third doubles teams…Lost his first seven singles matches, including a marathon 4-6, 7-5, 9-11 match at fourth singles at Albertus Magnus College (April 15)…Earned his first collegiate singles win at fifth singles against Penn State-Brandywine (April 23) in another marathon match, capturing a 6-1, 5-7, 10-8 victory…Played doubles with four different partners, including Geoffrey Bondad on four occasions, Joseph Tyrrell three times, Ryan Christopher twice and Zheng Lin once…Earned three consecutive doubles wins in three days , playing with Bondad at third doubles, beginning with an 8-6 victory at Rutgers-Newark (April 19)…Also posted an 8-1 win against Penn College (April 20) and an 8-3 victory against the College of Staten Island (April 21).
High School: Graduated from Sterling High School in 2014…Captured two varsity tennis letters for Coach Robert Atene…National Honor Society.
