Biography

3422Pete DeStefano has posted the third-best average on the Scarlet Raptors during each of his first two semesters with the program. A transfer from Camden County College, DeStefano carded a 79.8 average in eight rounds during the 2016 Spring semester, while earning North Eastern Athletic Conference Second Team honors and helping the Scarlet Raptors win their fourth straight NEAC crown.
 
Last fall, DeStefano shaved five strokes off his average, posting a 74.8 mark in six rounds, earning NEAC Golfer of the Week honors and winning the Stockton Invitational.
 
In 14 rounds with the Scarlet Raptors, DeStefano owns a career 77.6 average.
 
Fall 2016: Fashioned a 74.8 average in six rounds…Opened the season with a 78-75-153 at the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Golf Championships (Oct. 1-2), finishing fifth on the Raptors and tied for 28th of 91 golfers…Was the individual medalist out of 25 golfers at the Stockton Invitational (Oct. 12), shooting an even-par 71…The performance earned him honors as the NEAC Golfer of the Week on Oct. 18…Shot another even-par 71 to finish third on the Raptors and tied for seventh of 86 at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational  (Oct. 17)…His round helped the Raptors post a program team record of 283 while winning the invitational…Tied for third on the team and tied for seventh of 34 overall with a 73 at the Eastern Invitational (Oct. 19) as the Scarlet Raptors won another event and tied their newly-established team mark of 283…Finished fourth on the Raptors’ A Team and tied for eighth of 39 overall by shooting an 81 at the RU-Camden Scarlet Raptors Fall Golf Invitational (Oct. 24).
 
2974Spring 2016: Averaged 79.8, the third-best mark on the team, while playing all eight rounds…Captured NEAC Second Team honors with a two-day total of 77-78—155 at the conference championships (April 23-24), tying for third on the Raptors and tying for fifth of 41 overall…Finished fourth on the team and tied for 150th of 210 overall at the NCAA Division III Golf Championships (May 10-11), shooting a two-day 82-81—163…Made his Rutgers-Camden debut and finished third on the Raptors and tied for ninth of 40 overall at the season-opening Myrtle Beach Shootout (March 16), shooting an 81…Carded a 77 at the Stockton Invitational (March 30), tied with teammate Kevin Sarlo for the best round of the day, but finished second of 22 overall on a tiebreaker…Finished fourth on the Raptors’ A team and tied for 10th of 61 overall with a 79 at the RU-Camden Scarlet Raptor Spring Golf Invitational (April 4)…Carded an 83 at the Messiah Falcon Classic (April 19) to place fourth on the team and tie for 36th of 80 overall.
 
Pre-Rutgers: Played at Camden County College during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons…Was the fourth-best individual qualifier for the Division III National Golf Championships in 2015.
