Rutgers-Camden Athletics

A transfer who played softball at Division II Francis Marion University last spring, Jessica Thompson returns home to South Jersey to join the Rutgers-Camden pitching staff this season.
 
Pre-Rutgers: Played softball at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina, during the 2016 season…Went 0-for-2 at the plate, including 0-for-1 in her collegiate debut against St. Andrews (Feb. 16, Game Two)…Appeared in four games on the mound, working 5-1/3 innings without a decision…Posted a 2.62 ERA…Walked two and struck out three, while allowing six hits…Worked one inning in her first collegiate mound outing, contributing to a 12-0 win over Mercyhurst (March 22)…Worked two innings apiece against Fayetteville State (March 23, Game Two) and Lander (March 30, Game Two)…Notched her only fielding chance of the season with an assist against Lander…Named to the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll during the 2015 fall semester.
 
High School: Earned four varsity letters in softball and two in soccer at Penns Grove High School…Graduated in 2015…Captured Second Team All-Tri-County Conference Diamond Division honors in softball as a senior for Coach Dave Tiefenthaler…All-Group 1 Third Team as a senior when she led Penns Grove into the South Jersey Group I semifinals and notched a 14-8 record…Passed the 100-hit and 20-win milestones for her career…Added All-Conference softball honors as a junior…Honor Roll student.
