One of the Scarlet Raptors’ track captains, Tom Meyer has been the program’s most versatile athlete during his three-year collegiate career, while notching three program records, numerous academic honors and two consecutive awards as the Most Dedicated Athlete of the men’s indoor and outdoor programs. The first person in program history to compete in the pentathlon and heptathlon, Meyer also has served on the Rutgers-Camden Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Program records (through 2017-18): Indoor Track (2) – Pentathlon (2,187 points) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3, 2018); Heptathlon (2,446 points) at the Widener Field Meet (Jan. 26-27, 2017); Outdoor Track (1) – 4x200 (1:37.73) with Lance Matchett, Jordan Perkins and Elijah Crouch at the Oscar Moore Open (April 6, 2018).

Outdoor Track 2018: Named Most Dedicated Athlete of the men’s Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field program for the second straight year…Set a PR in five events, including a program record of 1:37.73 in the 4x200 as the Raptors’ team finished third of three squads at the Oscar Moore Open (April 6)…That event was one of four he ran during a busy day at the Oscar Moore meet, including the 110 high hurdles (16.49, second of four), the 200-meter dash (24.73, 13th of 18) and the 4x100 (46.61, third of three)…His clocking at the 110 hurdles was one of six ECAC qualifiers he ran in that event during the outdoor season, which ended with him competing in the ECAC Div. III Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 16-17), qualifying for the 110 hurdles final (15.77, seventh of 12) and finishing sixth of eight in the final (a PR-tying 15.51)…Opened the season at the Delaware Classic (March 24), setting a short-lived PR of 16.12 in the 110 hurdles (finishing third of six), placing 20th of 32 in the 200-meter dash (24.51) and running in both the 4x100 (47.61, third of four) and the 4x400 (a PR of 3:38.40, fifth of eight)…Placed fifth of 11 in the 110 hurdles (17.08) and 26th of 44 in the 200-meter dash (23.91) at the Stockton Open (March 31)…On the same track April 14 for the Osprey Open, placed fourth of 12 in the 110 hurdles (an ECAC-qualifying 16.22), 29th of 62 in the 200-meter dash (a PR of 23.39) and 10th of 11 with the 4x100 team (45.19)…Ran those same three events at the Widener Invitational (April 21), placing eighth of 30 in the 110 hurdles (another ECAC qualifier of 15.97, at the time his new PR), 45th of 80 in the 200-meter dash (23.92) and 14th of 15 in the 4x100 (46.97)…Placed 13th of 20 in the 110 high hurdles (17.06) and seventh of 10 in the 4x100 (46.13) at the Lions Invitational (April 28)…Turned in a fine performance at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 5-6), including the first day when he qualified for the 110-meter hurdles final by placing fifth of 11 in the preliminaries (16.04, another ECAC qualifier) and finished 13th of 27 in the 200-meter dash (23.51)…In the 110-meter finals on May 6, finished fourth of seven with a mark of 15.51, setting a PR he later tied at the ECAC meet…Set a PR of 43.91 in the 4x100 relay, finishing ninth of 10 at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier (May 14).
Indoor Track 2017-18: Competed in five meets…Became the first athlete in the history of the men’s indoor program to compete in the pentathlon, setting a program record of 2,187 points at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3), finishing third of 11 athletes…In the pentathlon he was first of 11 in the 60-meter hurdles (9.06), seventh of 11 in the high jump (a PR of 1.37 meters), 10th of 11 in the shot put (6.50 meters), seventh of 11 in the long jump (5.12 meters) and eighth of 10 in the 1,000-meter run (a PR of 3:20.96)…Ran a PR of 1:18.56 to finish 40th of 43 at 500 meters during the Fast Times Before Finals meet (Dec. 9), while also placing 12th of 19 (9:04) in the 60-meter hurdles…Notched a 9.02 time to finish 23rd of 27 in the 60-meter hurdles at the Gotham Cup (Jan. 19)…Set a PR of 8.87 to qualify sixth of 11 for the 60-meter hurdle finals at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19) and finished sixth of eight in the finals with a 9.00 clocking…Placed 10th of 11 in the 60-meter hurdles (9.02) at the Fastrack Last Chance meet (Feb. 24).
Outdoor Track 2017: Named Most Dedicated athlete on the Rutgers-Camden men’s indoor/outdoor track programs…Competed in six different events during his seven spring meets, including the 200-meter dash at all seven meets…Collected four outdoor PR’s…Opened the spring at the Golden Rams Invitational (March 25), setting a PR in the long jump (5.30 meters, 17th of 20) while also finishing 36th of 48 in the 200-meter dash (25.32) and 12th of 13 in the 110 hurdles (18.23)…Placed 17th of 22 at 200 meters (25.47) in the Stockton Invitational (April 1)…Finished 25th of 28 at 200 meters (25.44) and 18th of 20 at 400 meters (59.30) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 8)…Ran the second leg of the 4x400 (ninth of 14 in a PR of 3:40.15), while placing 36th of 48 at 200 meters (25.12) and 38th of 39 at 400 meters (1:01.76) at the Gwynedd Mercy Mid-Week Twilight Invitational (April 12)…On April 22 at the Widener Invitational, finished 77th of 94 in the 200-meter dash (24.98) and 72nd of 78 in the 400-meter dash (58.49)…Placed 69th of 90 in the 200-meter dash (24.81) at the Lions Invitational (April 29)…Had a busy two days at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 6-7), running in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash (25th of 29, a personal best of 24.64) and the 400-meter dash (26th of 27, 58.90) on the first day, then competing on the third leg of both the 4x100 (seventh of eighth, a PR of 45.90) and the 4x400 (seventh of seven, 3:47.12) on the second day.
Indoor Track 2016-17: Competed at four invitationals, including the Widener Field Meet (Jan. 26-27), where he notched 2,446 points and finished sixth of seven while competing in the first heptathlon in program history…His finish was all the more remarkable considering he didn’t compete in the pole vault and had no height in the high jump…Finished first of seven in the heptathlon’s 60-meter dash (7.72), second of seven in the 60-meter hurdles (9.29), third of seven in the long jump (5.40 meters), fourth of seven in the 1,000-meter run (3:37.68) and seventh of seven in the shot put (7.15)…Had personal bests at 60 meters, 1,000 meters. the long jump and the shot put during the heptathlon…Opened the season in the Wagner Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 9), running at 600 meters for the first time (5:14.65, finishing 41st of 41), while also placing 14th of 16 in the 60-meter hurdles (9.36) and 32nd of 32 in the shot put (6.70 meters)…At the Gotham Cup (Jan. 20), finished 111th of 115 at 400 meters (58.32) and 33rd of 38 in the 60-meter hurdles (9.50)…In his final meet of the winter, finished 25th of 28 in the 60-meter hurdles (10.50) at the St. Joseph’s College Indoor Invitational (Feb. 11).
Outdoor Track 2016: Competed in five different events over the course of seven spring invitationals…Mainly a 110-meter hurdler, he also ran the 400 hurdles, the 400-meter dash and competed once apiece in the 100-meter dash and the shot put…Opened the season at the Stockton Invitational (March 26), finishing 22nd of 40 in the 100-meter dash (a personal best of 11.95), seventh of 11 in the 110 hurdles (17.04), 11th of 14 in the 400 hurdles (1:05.59) and competing in the shot put for the only time during the season (6.16 meters, 22nd of 22)…Ran the 110 hurdles (17.14, sixth of six) and the 400-meter dash (57.24, 13th of 15) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 1)...Ran both of those events at the Osprey Open (April 9), placing 22nd of 34 in the 400-meter dash (57.54) and sixth of 11 in the 110 hurdles (16.90)…Finished 67th of 72 at 400 meters (55.74) and 25th of 33 in the 110 hurdles (17.38) at the Greyhound Invitational (April 16)…Set three personal bests at the Widener Invitational (April 23), finishing 64th of 92 at 400 meters (54.62), 11th of 24 in the 110 hurdles (16.25) and 26th of 37 in the 400 hurdles (1:01.44)…Placed 12th of 25 in the 110 hurdles (16.40) at the Lions’ Invitational (April 30)…During the two-day New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship, placed ninth of 13 in the 110 hurdles (16.80) on May 7 and 12th of 13 in the 400 hurdles (1:02.47) on May 8.
Indoor Track 2015-16: Competed in seven meets for the Scarlet Raptors during his first full collegiate season, running the 60-meter hurdles in six meets, while adding the 55-meter hurdles and the 200- and 400-meter dashes once apiece…Made an impressive indoor debut, qualifying for the 60-meter hurdle finals by placing third of 12 in the preliminaries (9.22) and finishing third of six in the finals (9.02) at the Bow Tie Classic (Dec. 5)…Finished 13th of 21 in the 55-meter hurdles with a hand-held time of 8.3 and placed 35th of 39 in the 200-meter dash (27.07) at the Golden Bear Invitational (Jan. 15)…Finished 36th of 42 in the 60-meter hurdles (.24) at the Gotham Cup (Jan. 22)…At the Ramapo College Indoor Select (Jan. 30), placed 10th of 21 in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries (9.11) and was 51st of 62 in the 400-meter dash (57.48, adjusted to 58.40 for the banked track)…Finished 12th of 22 in the 60-meter hurdles (9.21) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 6) and 15th of 25 in that event (9.06) at the Monmouth Invitational (Feb. 13)…Placed 12th of 15 in the 60-meter hurdles (9.34) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship (Feb. 22).
Cross Country 2015: Raced in one 8K meet for the Scarlet Raptors, competing at the Bill Fritz/Charlie Way Invitational (Sept. 19)…Placed third on the Scarlet Raptors and 84th of 93 overall, posting a 39:43.38 clocking.
High School: A 2015 graduate of West Deptford High School, where he earned three varsity letters apiece in winter and spring track for Coach Mark Dixon…Captured All-Conference Second Team honors in the 110 hurdles as a junior and earned All-Conference First Team in the event as a senior…Member of the Gifted and Talented Program all four years of his high school career.
