Biography

Bec Garretson made a successful return to the soccer pitch after missing the entire 2012 season with injuries. A three-year letterwinner, she has started all 50 games during her Scarlet Raptor career, collecting five goals and two assists for 12 points.
 
Garretson, who will serve as one of the Scarlet Raptors’ four captains in 2014,  also has competed with Rutgers-Camden’s indoor and outdoor track programs.
 
Soccer 2013: Played in 17 of the Raptors’ 18 games, starting all 17…Took three shots, two of them on goal…Helped the young Scarlet Raptors post seven shutouts and a 1.78 goals-against average…Played all 110 minutes in a scoreless tie with Moravian College (Oct. 16) and all 101 minutes in a 1-0 win over Drew (Sept. 7)…Played 102 minutes out of 110 in the 0-0 tie against Goucher College (Sept. 14)…Played the full regulation 90 minutes in games against Elms College (Sept. 8), Rowan University (Sept. 25), Montclair State University (Oct. 5), William Paterson University (Oct. 19) and Richard Stockton College (Oct. 23).1386
 
Indoor Track 2012-13: Competed in the 400-meter dash in two meets…Posted a time of 1:12.92 to finish 22nd of 24 at the Bow-Tie Classic (Dec. 1)…Placed 18th of 19 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 22), posting a personal best time of 1:09.81.
 
Outdoor Track 2012: Competed in two meets, running the 400-meter dash at both the Danny Curran Invitational (March 31) and at the New Jersey Invitational (April 14)…Finished 37th of 42 athletes at the Curran meet in a time of 1:11.68…Placed 26th of 31 at the New Jersey Invitational with a 1:10.69 clocking.
 
Soccer 2011: Started all 15 games, one of six players on the team to do so…Notched one goal for two points…Took six shots, four on goal…Named the Scarlet Raptors’ team MVP…Anchored a young defensive unit which posted two shutouts and held opponents to two or less goals in nine of the Raptors’ 15 games, including the last four and six of the final seven…Helped team collect a season-opening shutout in a 0-0 tie against Salisbury University (Sept. 1)…Contributed a strong performance to a 2-0 shutout at Ramapo College (Oct. 22), leading a defensive effort which limited the Roadrunners to only seven shots…Scored her lone goal in a 2-1 loss at New Jersey City University (Oct. 26).
 
Soccer 2010: Started all 18 games for the Lady Raptors, one of only three players to do so…Second on team in scoring with four goals and two assists for 10 points…Her two assists tied for the team lead…Made her collegiate debut in a 3-1 loss at Salisbury University in the Raptors’ season opener, Sept. 1…Scored her first goal the same day, converting a penalty kick only 2:42 into the season, for the team’s lone PK of the year…Scored her second goal in a 5-2 loss to Arcadia University (Sept. 5)…Collected both of her assists during an 8-0 win over Cedar Crest College (Sept. 11)…Helped the team post its second win of the season, scoring a goal during a 6-1 victory against John Jay College (Oct. 9)…Notched team’s only goal at York College (Oct. 21) in a 3-1 loss…Defensively, helped Raptors post one shutout and hold opponents to one goal on eight other occasions.
 
High School: Earned seven varsity letters at Hammonton High School, including four in soccer, two in track and one in basketball…Honorable mention all-conference in track…Earned numerous soccer honors, capped as a senior with First Team All-Group 3 recognition from the Courier-Post newspaper and First Team All-Area from the Atlantic City Press…Added Second Team Cape Atlantic American Division honors…Two-time Cape-Atlantic Honorable Mention performer…National Honor Society.
 
Personal: Born March 7, 1992…Dual Childhood Studies and Psychology major at Rutgers-Camden…. Served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during the 2012-13 scholastic year...Rebecca is the daughter of Colleen and Bill Garretson of Atco.
