Biography
After two outstanding seasons at Rutgers-Camden, Meghan Wachira’s final season was marred by injuries, leaving the all-conference forward limited to only three points. Despite playing only three years with the Scarlet Raptors, she managed to tie the program’s career record with 13 game-winning goals, set in four seasons by Heather Greenwald (2001-04). Wachira collected 23 career goals (seventh in program history) and 53 points (ninth) in her 52 games at Rutgers-Camden.
One of the Scarlet Raptors’ four captains in 2019, Wachira was a senior academically, despite holding junior eligibility on the soccer pitch. An outstanding student as well, she graduated with numerous academic accomplishments.
Over her first two seasons, Wachira earned New Jersey Athletic Conference Co-Rookie of the Year and NJAC Second Team honors in 2017, on her way to capturing team MVP honors and recognition as Rutgers-Camden’s Female Athlete of the Year. In 2018, she was a NJAC First Team performer.
