Biography

A transfer who ran two years of track and cross country at Rowan College at Gloucester County and also ran one year of track at Felician College, Alexis Jones became the Scarlet Raptors’ top runner in her first year with the cross country program in 2017, earning team MVP honors.  She added two more letters to her busy Rutgers-Camden schedule when she participated in the indoor and outdoor track seasons.
 
An ECAC qualifier in the 3,000-meter steeplechase last spring, Jones also earned academic honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference, the ECAC and Rutgers-Camden.

Outdoor Track 2018: Competed in eight meets, including six in the 3,000-meter steeplechase…Posted four ECAC qualifiers in her five opportunities in the 3,000-meter steeplechase before ending her season competing in the event at the ECAC Div. III Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 16), where she finished seventh of 14 athletes with a 12:26.07 clocking…Opened her season running the 5,000 meters (20:40.75, finishing 10th of 11) at the Delaware Classic (March 24)…Finished first of four athletes in her first attempt at the 3,000-meter steeplechase (13:16.20), coming at the Stockton Invitational (March 31)…Ran both the 3,000 steeplechase (the only competitor in the event, notching her first ECAC qualifier of 12:57.72) and the 1,500-meter run (11th of 22, a PR of 5:31.19) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 6)…Had another ECAC qualifier of 12:51.18 in the 3,000 steeplechase, finishing third of 10 at the Osprey Open on April 13…A day later, also at the Osprey Open, placed 14th of 23 at 5,000 meters (21:27.79)…Notched a PR of 20:14.37 to place 47th of 73 at 5,000 meters at the Widener Invitational (April 20)…Was first of two athletes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (13:01.10) at the Lions Invitational (April 27)…Finished fifth of 13 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 5), posting a PR of 12:23.94.
 
Indoor Track 2017-18:  Joined indoor program late in the season, competing in the 3,000-meter run at a pair of meets…Placed 30th of 33 in 12:46.70 at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19), finished 14th of 15 at 3,000 meters (11:56.26).
 
Cross Country 2017: Led Rutgers-Camden in all five of her 6K invitationals during the season…Named the team’s MVP…Made her Scarlet Raptor debut at the NJAIAW Championships (April 23) and finished 49th of 152 overall in a time of 27:04.53…Posted a 28:58.1 clocking to place 29th of 82 at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial race (Oct. 7)…Notched her Raptor personal best at 6K (25:34.2) while finishing 172nd of 239 runners at the Inter-Regional Border Battle (Oct. 14)…Finished 36th of 100 runners in a time of 25:43.64 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Oct. 28)…Closed the year at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals (Nov. 11), posting a time of 25:38.7 to place 171st of 285 runners.
 
Pre-Rutgers: Ran on the Felician College outdoor track team during the 2017 spring season, competing at 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters and in the 3,000-meter steeplechase…Finished first of three runners in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Oscar Moore Invitational (April 8) with a 13:52.96 clocking…Earned All-CACC in Division II in the steeplechase in 2017…Ran track at Rowan College at Gloucester County in 2014 and 2015…Ran cross country with the Roadrunners in 2015 and 2016…Named a NJCAA Division III All-American in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 2016…NJCAA Division III All-Region in cross country in 2016.
