Biography

Second baseman Cate Petrucelli started all 86 of her games during her four-year Rutgers-Camden career, while compiling a .257 batting average, 169 putouts and 144 assists. She finished eighth on the program’s career list with 17 sacrifices, 15th with her 144 assists and tied for ninth with 11 double plays.

Softball 2023: Appeared in 32 of the team’s 34 games, starting all 32 at second base…Hit .253 with three doubles, six RBIs and three walks…Tied for second on the team with 12 runs scored, four stolen bases and four double plays…Finished third on the team in assists (59) and fourth in putouts (57)…Added four sacrifices…Had a five-game hitting streak (April 7-16), going 5-for-13 (.385) with five runs and four RBIs…That streak came one game after her three-game hitting streak was snapped (4-for-9, .444 from April 1-4)…Finished fifth on the team with four multiple-hit games, including a 3-for-3 game with one RBI against SUNY-New Paltz in the season opener (Feb. 23) and a 3-for-4 game with one run in the nightcap of a doubleheader against Stockton (April 25)…Also went 2-for-4 with one run and one stolen base against Wentworth (March 11) and 2-for-3 with one run, one RBI, one walk and one stolen base against New Jersey City (April 1, Game Two)…Went 1-for-3 with a double, one run and two RBIs in the opener of a doubleheader against Montclair State (April 11)…Had a season high of five putouts against Stockton (April 25, Game Two) and a high of five assists against both Catholic (March 30, Game One) and New Jersey City (April 1, Game One).
 
Softball 2022: Started all 27 Rutgers-Camden games at second base…Led the team with 10 sacrifices, finished fourth on the team in RBIs (7) and was tied for fourth in runs (9)…Had a .338 on-base percentage…Defensively, finished third on the team in assists (43) and fourth in putouts (62)…Served as a team tri-captain…Second on the team with four multiple-hit games, getting two hits apiece in games against Cortland (March 18, 2-for-3, one run), Rowan (April 5, Game 1, 2-for-2), William Paterson (April 9, Game 2, 2-for-3 with one walk, two runs and three RBIs) and Kean (April 30, Game 2, 2-for-2 with one walk)…Was hit by a pitch three times against Stockton (April 26, Game 2), tying a single-game program record, while also adding one sacrifice, one run and one RBI…Had a season-high six putouts against Rutgers-Newark (April 28, Game 1)…Notched three putouts and her season high of four assists against both SUNY-New Paltz (March 4, Game 1) and Southern Maine (March 17).
 
Softball 2021: Started all 23 Rutgers-Camden games at second base…Hit .250 with three doubles, six runs scored and six RBIs…Added two walks and three sacrifices…Tied for third on the team with 41 putouts and tied for second with 37 assists…Also finished second on the team by turning four double plays…Had three multiple-hit games and tied for the team lead with two multiple-RBI games…Tied for the team lead with a five-game hitting streak, going 7-for-13 (.538) with two doubles, five runs and six RBIs from March 23-April 6…Capped a nine-run third inning at New Jersey City (April 3, Game One) with a bases-clearing double, going 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs overall in that game…Also notched a three-run double in the first inning of a doubleheader nightcap at Ramapo College (April 6) and finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs…Added a four-game hitting streak from April 27-May 4, going 5-for-12 (.417)…She started that streak going 2-for-3 in the second game of a doubleheader against nationally-ranked Rowan University (April 27) in a contest that saw Rutgers-Camden collecting only five hits…Had a season-high five putouts against both Ramapo College (April 6, Game Two) and The College of New Jersey (May 7, Game Two)…Notched her high of five assists against Montclair State (April 10, Game Two).
 
Softball 2020: Started all four Rutgers-Camden games at second base, hitting .400 with two runs, two walks, two RBIs and a .500 on-base percentage…Posted a 1.000 fielding percentage in 14 chances, finishing third on the team in both putouts (9) and assists (5)…Went 0-for-2 with one putout in her collegiate debut, the first game of a doubleheader against SUNY-New Paltz (March 8)…In the nightcap, went 1-for-3 with one run and three putouts…She collected a leadoff infield single and later scored a run in the third inning for her first hit and the only run in the Raptors’ 6-1 loss…In a doubleheader sweep against Gwynedd Mercy (March 10), went 1-for-3 with one RBI, three putouts and three assists in the opener and went 2-for-2 with one run, one RBI, two walks, two assists and two putouts in the nightcap…Her first collegiate RBI came on an infield single in the fourth inning of the opener.
