The top runner on the Rutgers-Camden cross country team, Jason Hyland was an All-New Jersey Athletic Conference performer during the shortened cross country season in March, 2021 and was the ECAC champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase during the 2022 outdoor track season. He also has competed in indoor track since transferring to Rutgers-Camden from junior college.

Outdoor Track 2022: Established five PR times and captured the ECAC championship in the 3,000-meter steeplechase over seven spring meets…Set a PR of 2:09.39 at 800 meters (39th of 54) on the second day of the Danny Curran Invitational (April 2) after running at 5,000 meters (40th of 78, 16:10.83) the previous day…Notched a 5,000-meter PR (16:07.68) and finished 65th of 89 athletes on the first day of the Widener Invitational (April 22) and added a 4:20.58 clocking at 1,500 meters (59th of 89) the next day…Ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase (sixth of 11, 10:44.43) at the Lions Invitational (April 29)…Notched three PR performances at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 8-9), including a 10:16.34 time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to finish seventh of 11 on the NJAC’s opening day…On the second day of the NJACs, finished 18th of 28 at 1,500 meters (a PR of 4:19.53) and eighth of nine with the 4x400 team (a PR of 3:44.80)…Capped his season by winning the ECAC title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on May 18, posting a time of 10:54.99 to finish first in a field of five runners…Also ran on the 4x400 team (second of two teams, 4:24.61) that day.

Indoor Track 2021-22: Competed in two meets, setting a PR in each one…Had a PR of 1:13.10 in the 400-meter dash at the Fasttrack National Invitational (Feb. 11), finishing 114th of 114…Helped the Distance Medley Relay team place sixth of nine teams at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 21) with a PR of 11:15.76.

Cross Country 2021: Led the Scarlet Raptors in all seven of his cross country meets…Named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on Oct. 11…Posted a time of 18:19.1 in the 5K season-opening Bryn Mawr Invitational (Sept. 1) to finish fourth of 32 runners…Finished third of 25 at the 6K Osprey Memorial Invitational (Sept. 10) in a time of 20:33.81…Posted his 8K personal best of 26:55.21 to finish 15th of 132 runners at the Osprey Open (Sept. 25)…Finished 71st of 218 athletes (27:56.0) at the Paul Short Run on Oct. 2…Finished 12th of 128 runners (28:57.8) at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial (Oct. 9)…His time of 29:15.9 at the Border Battle (Oct. 16) helped him finish 50th of 208 runners…Closed his season finishing 38th of 111 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Oct. 30) in a time of 27:08.7.

Outdoor Track 2021: Competed in six different events, establishing a PR in each one, during four spring meets…At the season-opening Stockton Invitational #1 (March 26), placed 18th of 26 athletes at 3,000 meters (9:37.04) and eighth of eight with the 4x400 relay team (4:08.73)…At the Stockton Invitational #2 (April 2), finished sixth of 15 at 5,000 meters (16:37.16)…Ran two events at the Bill Fritz Invitational (April 17), finishing 20th of 25 at 800 meters (2:12.09) and 16th of 25 at 1,500 meters (4:21.07)…Posted a time of 34:34.72 to finish 11th of 14 at 10,000 meters at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 9).

Cross Country 2020-21: Captured NJAC Second Team honors at the conference championships, held March 20, finishing 13th of 39 runners overall in the 8K race in a time of 27:45.5…In the opening meet of the brief season, posted a time of 19:24.51 in the 5K Stockton Invitational (March 6, 2021) to finish 15th of 27 runners.
