Biography

Christopher Townsend made his Rutgers-Camden athletic debut during the 2021-22 indoor track season and added a second Scarlet Raptor letter during the 2022 outdoor track season. He previously competed in track and cross country at both Camden County College and Goldey-Beacom College.
 
Outdoor Track 2022: Ran in five spring meets, competing at 800 meters (three times), in the 4x400 relay (twice) and the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 1,500-meter run (once apiece)…Opened the season at the Stockton Invitational (March 26), finishing eighth of 47 at 1,500 meters (a PR of 4:20.27) and sixth of seven with the 4x400 team (3:50.86)…Ran his first 800-meter race at the Danny Curran Invitational (April 2), placing 31st of 54 (2:03.99)…Set a PR of 2:00.46 at 800 meters, finishing 36th of 92 athletes at the Widener Invitational (April 23)…Placed 10th of 30 at 800 meters (2:00.82) and eighth of nine in the 4x400 (a PR of 3:44.80) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 9)…Finished second of five athletes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (a PR of 11:15.88) at the ECAC Championships (May 18).
 
Indoor Track 2021-22: Competed in four different events at four indoor meets…Ran the 400-meter dash twice, while also competing at 800 meters, the mile and with the distance medley relay team…Made his Scarlet Raptor debut at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 22), finishing 20th of 35 at 400 meters (59.08) and 18th of 31 in the mile (a Rutgers-Camden PR of 4:54.92)…Set his Raptor PR of 2:07.44 while finishing 15th of 42 at 800 meters at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 5)…Notched his Raptor PR of 56.53 and finished 109th of 114 at the Fastrack National Invitational (Feb. 11)…Was a member of the Raptors’ distance medley team that placed sixth of nine (11:15.76) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 21).
 
Pre-Rutgers: Spent two years at Camden County College, where he was a member of the cross country and track teams…Transferred to Goldey-Beacom College for the fall semester of 2019, where he competed for the Lightning in both cross country and track…Qualified for the NJCAA DIII Nationals in the 800-meter run in the spring of 2019…Point scorer for Goldey-Beacom in the 800-meter run and the 4x400 relay at the CACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the spring of 2021…Captain of Goldey-Beacom’s cross country team.
 
High School: Ran cross country and track at Eastern Regional High School…All-Conference Second Team in the Boys 4x800 relay as a senior…Graduated in 2017.
