Biography

Angel Chaj has been one of the most active student-athletes at Rutgers-Camden, earning varsity letters during every season of his scholastic years, in addition to serving on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and earning academic honors.
 
Chaj has captured two letters apiece with the cross country, indoor and outdoor track programs.
 
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2023 Fall semester.
 
Outdoor Track 2025: Competed at 800 and 1,500 meters over five invitationals…Opened the season at the Stockton Invitational (March 22), placing 49th of 51 at 800 meters (2:40.63)…Posted his PR at 800 meters (2:31.48, placing 103rd of 104) and also ran at 1,500 meters (5:24.38, 110th of 116) at the Danny Curran Invitational (March 29)…Set his 1,500-meter PR (5:21.29) while finishing 13th of 14 at the Paul Donahue Invitational (April 19)…Placed 68th of 69 at 800 meters (2:33.74) at the Lions Invitational (April 26)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 4), finished 19th of 20 at 1,500 meters (5:25.04).
 
Indoor Track 2024-25: Competed in six meets, running everywhere from 800-3,000 meters…Made his second debut at the FastTrack Open (Dec. 6), finishing 53rd of 55 in the mile (5:25.20)…Ran his first 3,000-meter event at the Bow-Tie Invitational (Dec. 7), finishing 13th of 13 in a time of 12:28.85…Set his PR at 3,000 meters (11:55.26) at the St. Thomas Aquinas meet (Jan. 10), placing 54th of 54…Finished 15th of 16 in the mile (5:43.05) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 19)…Placed 38th of 39 at 800 meters (2:37.45) and 41st of 45 in the mile (6:03.48) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 8)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 23) finished 18th of 18 in the mile (5:52.41).
 
Cross Country 2024: Served as one of the co-captains for the men’s team…Competed in all seven races, while posting PR times at both 6K and 8K…Opened the season finishing fifth on the team and 75th of 78 overall at the Philadelphia Cross Country Classic (Sept. 7), posting an 8K time of 43:54.09…Ran a 42:31.64 8K time at the Osprey Open (Sept. 14), finishing sixth on the Raptors and 185th of 189 overall…At the team’s lone 6K event during the season, set his PR of 28:31.4, finishing sixth on the team and 55th of 69 at the Herb Lorenz Cross Country Invitational (Sept. 20)…Placed third on the team and 56th of 93 overall, running a 39:14.2 8K race at the Highlander Invitational (Oct. 5)…Competed in the 8K Open race at the massive Border Battle (Oct. 19), finishing fourth on the Raptors and 167th of 190 overall (38:31.3)…Finished fifth on the team and 86th of 89 overall at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships (Nov. 2), posting a 38:26.5 time in the 8K race…Closed the season with an 8K PR of 36:57.1 at the NCAA Metro Regionals (Nov. 16), finishing sixth on the team and 178th of 186 overall.
 
Outdoor Track 2024: Competed in three different events over five meets, mainly concentrating on the 1,500-meter run…At the season-opening Danny Curran Invitational (March 30), set a PR with the 4x400 team (3:36.53) while finishing eighth of 13…Finished 45th of 46 at 1,500 meters (6:02.90) at the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival (April 5) and 50th of 50 in the event at the TCNJ Invitational (April 13) in a time of 6:02.96)…Notched his best 1,500-meter time (5:41.09) at the Paul Donahue Invitational (April 20) to finish 95th of 97…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 5), finished 20th of 20 at 1,500 meters (5:51.50) and ran 800 meters for the first time, finishing 29th of 29 with a PR of 2:46.21.
 
Indoor Track 2023-24: Competed in five invitationals, running four at 800 meters and competing with the 4x400 relay team at the FastTrack National Invite (Feb. 9), where the team placed 12th of 12 (3:18.48)…Set his 800-meter PR in his first meet, the FastTrack Opener (Dec. 1), when he placed 28th of 30 (2:21.66)…Finished 29th of 29 at 800 meters (2:56.92) at the Bow-Tie Invitational (Dec. 8) and 40th of 42 at 800 meters (3:08.31) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 20)…Posted a 2:50.92 time to finish 43rd of 45 at 800 meters at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3).
 
Cross Country 2023: Completed four 8K races, running fourth on the team in three of them…Made his collegiate debut at the Dan Talbot Open (Sept. 29), placing 44th of 48 overall in a time of 46:45.34…Finished 86th of 88 overall in 49:48.4 at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial (Oct. 7)…Finished fifth on the team and 147th of 152 overall at the Border Battle (Oct. 14), while running his 8K PR of 43:54.7…Posted a time of 44:52.21 at the Last Chance Run Fast meet (Oct. 20), finishing 141st of 144.
 
High School: Varsity letterman in both soccer and track and field at Florence Township Memorial High School for Coaches Kyle Ballay and Carol Ballay…Graduated in 2023.
