Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Distance runner Melanie Derham earned three letters during her freshman year as a member of the Rutgers-Camden women’s cross country, indoor and outdoor track programs. She also was named as the Most Dedicated athlete on the cross country team.
 
Outdoor Track 2014: Competed in seven invitationals, running five times apiece at 800 and 1,500 meters…Posted her top time of 3:00.16 at 800 meters during the WCU Open (April 25)…After opening the season with a 7:06.03 clocking at 1,500 meters at the Stockton Invitational (March 22), she shaved practically a minute off that time by the end of the season, posting a 6:06.74 time in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 4).
 
Indoor Track 2013-14: Competed in four indoor meets at 800 meters…Also ran the mile in three invitationals…Notched her top time of 3:20.27 at 800 meters and 7:17.96 in the mile at the Blue-White Invitational (Jan. 11)…Posted a 3:20.61 clocking at 800 meters in the NJAC Championships (March 1).
 
Cross Country 2013: Competed in five invitationals during cross country season, running as the Scarlet Raptors No. 3 runner in the first three events, placing fifth on the team at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Nov. 2) and seventh on the squad at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals (Nov. 16)…Earned honors as the team’s Most Dedicated athlete…Placed 38th of 43 overall in her collegiate debut at the 5K Bryn Mawr Invite Sept. 7 in a time of 30:58…Recorded a clocking of 36:50.1 in her first collegiate 6K race, finishing 164th of 194 at the Roadrunner Invitational (Sept. 14)…Ran a 36:16.55 6K race and finished 64th of 81 at the NJAIAW Championships (Sept. 21)…Posted a 37:08.7 clocking at the NJAC Championships (Nov. 2) to finish 75th of 79…Posted her best 6K time of the season (32:31.2) at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals (Nov. 16), finishing 267th of 269.
 
High School: Captured nine varsity letters at Triton Regional High School, competing in cross country, winter and spring track…Team captain for all three programs…Named the girls’ cross country team MVP in 2012-13…U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete in 2013…First Team All-Conference in spring track (2011)…Second Team All-Conference in cross country (2011) and spring track (2012)...National Honor Society…Spanish Honor Society…History Honor Society…National Society of High School Scholars.
