Biography
Freshman Yaniel Colon earned his first collegiate letter with the Rutgers-Camden cross country program during the 2024 fall semester.
Outdoor Track 2025: Did not compete.
Indoor Track 2024-25: Did not compete.
Cross Country 2024: Competed in four meets, making his collegiate debut and running his top 8K time of 32:55.01 at the Osprey Open (Sept. 14), finishing third on the Rutgers-Camden team and 154th of 180 overall…Set his 6K PR of 24:10.9 at the Herb Lorenze Cross Country Invitational (Sept. 20), placing third on the Raptors and 41st of 69 overall…Finished second on the team and 37th of 93 overall with a 34:24.0 clocking at the 8K Highlander Invitational (Oct. 5)…Closed his season at the NCAA Metro Regionals (Nov. 16), finishing fifth on the team and 169th of 186 overall with a 35:23.6 clocking.
High School: Graduated from Pennsauken High School in 2024.
Personal: Born November 29, 2005…First name pronounced “Yaw-knee-L”…Hobby is running…Political Science major with an International Relations minor at Rutgers-Camden, who plans to work in Washington, D.C….Yaniel is the son of Yahaira Pagan and Roderick Ortega of Maple Shade.
