Biography

Andrew Berger has competed with the Scarlet Raptors’ cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams during every one of his seasons at Rutgers-Camden. After completing his fourth year of cross country during the fall semester, he returns for his senior indoor track season.
 
Cross Country 2014: Competed in six of the Scarlet Raptors’ seven invitationals, placing sixth on the team three times and seventh on three other occasions…Finished 24th of 42 at the season-opening Bryn Mawr Invite Aug. 29 (19:43.00 over a 5K course) and 48th of 101 at the Highlander Invitational Sept. 6 (33:36.47), placing sixth on the Raptors both days…Finished seventh on the team and 90th of 109 at the Osprey Open (Sept. 20) with a 32:33.56 clocking…Seventh on the team at both the Jack St. Clair Memorial Cross Country Championship (Oct. 11) and the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship (Nov. 1), finishing 90th of 136 (33:46) and 89th of 101 (33:29.41), respectively…Closed his collegiate cross country career at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals (Nov. 15), placing sixth on the Raptors and 276 of 285 overall in a time of 32:36.7.1425
 
Outdoor Track 2014: Competed in four different events over six invitationals…Ran the 800 meters on four occasions, including a personal best of 2:08.54 at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier (May 12)…Placed 14th of 23 at 800 meters at the WCU Open (April 25, 2:08.84), 27th of 34 at the NJAC Championship (May 4, 2:11.26) and 27th of 44 at the Osprey Open (April 5, 2:11.68)…Also ran the 1,500 meters and 4x400 twice and the 400-meter dash once…Ran both the 400-meter dash (57.85, 34th of 44) and the 4x400 (3:51.13, 13th of 15) at the Osprey Open on April 5, in addition to his 800-meter performance…Competed in both the 4x400 (4:02.36, 21st of 23) and the 1,500-meter run (4:35.80, 30th of 43) at the New Jersey Invitational (April 12).
 
Indoor Track 2013-14: Competed in six meets, running four different events, including the mile on four occasions…Set his indoor personal bests at 1,000 meters at the Princeton Invitational (2:52.69, Feb. 23) and the mile at the Blue-White Invitational (5:03.52, Jan. 11)…Finished ninth of 30 runners in the mile at the LVC Invitational with a time of 5:04.40 (Jan. 25)…Posted a time of 2:12.42 at 800 meters in the NJAC Championship (March 1)…Also ran on the Raptors’ 4x800, which posted an 8:42.47 clocking at the conference championships.
 
Cross Country 2013: Competed in all seven of the Scarlet Raptors’ meets, finishing as the team’s fourth runner in every event…Opened the season finishing 15th of 48 overall at the Bryn Mawr Invite (Sept. 7) with a time of 19:13 in the short 5K event…Returning to 8K action, was 91st of 129 at the Roadrunner Invitational (Sept. 14, 30:55.6) and 50th of 100 at the Osprey Open (Sept. 21, 31:14.71)…Also finished 200th of 333 competitors at the Paul Short Run (Oct. 5) in a time of 30:43 and placed 62nd of 99 at the CTC Championships (Oct. 19) with a 30:14 clocking…At the NJAC Championship (Nov. 2), finished 74th of 91 with a 31:52.9 clocking…Closed season at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals (Nov. 16), posting a 31:30.6 time to finish 248th of 275.
 
Outdoor Track 2013: Competed in six invitationals, running 800 meters on five occasions, 1,500 meters four times and 400 meters twice…Notched his outdoor personal bests in both the 400 meters (57.73) and 800 meters (2:09.64) at the Lions Invitational (April 27), finishing 53rd of 57 and 78th of 92, respectively…Posted his season-best time of 4:29.03 at 1,500 meters to finish 18th of 22 at the NJAC Championship (May 5), finishing 18th of 22…Also finished 22nd of 27 at 800 meters (2:11.06) at the conference championships…Opened the outdoor season at the Danny Curran Invitational (March 29), running at both 800 meters (2:15.58, 46th of 57) and 1,500 meters (4:33.60, 55th of 68)…Competed at 400 meters (58.85, 38th of 47) and 800 meters (2:12.02, 26th of 39) at the Osprey Open (April 6)…At the New Jersey Invitational (April 13), finished 46th of 60 at 800 meters (2:15.10) and 33rd of 43 at 1,500 meters (4:45.23)…Posted a time of 4:31.23 to finish 45th of 55 at 1,500 meters in the Greyhound Invitational (April 20).
 
Indoor Track 2012-13: Competed in one meet during indoor season…Finished 23rd of 31 in the 800-meter run at the Bow-Tie Classic (Dec. 1), posting a time of 2:17.16.871
 
Cross Country 2012: Competed in five invitationals, running among the Raptors’ top seven runners in every meet, including the No. 4 man on three occasions…Posted a 30:55.73 clocking to finish fourth on the Raptors and 43rd of 104 overall at the season-opening Dutchmen Invitational (Sept. 8)…Was fourth on the team and 37th of 94 overall at the Osprey Open (Sept. 22), posting a personal best time of 29:22.29…Finished fifth on the Raptors and 149th of 322 at the Paul Short Run (Sept. 28) in a time of 30:08…Posted a time of 31:40.57 at the DeSales Invitational (Oct. 13), finishing fourth on the team and 151st of 225 overall…Was the Raptors’ seventh runner and finished 72nd of 90 overall at the NJAC Championship (Oct. 27) in a time of 30:28.57.
 
Outdoor Track 2012: Competed in seven meets, participating in the 1,500-meter run on five occasions, the 800-meter run twice and also running the leadoff leg on the Scarlet Raptors’ 4x400 team at the NJAC Championship (May 5)…Made his collegiate outdoor track debut at 800 meters, finishing 64th of 79 with a 2:13.01 clocking at the Monmouth Invitational (March 24)…Ran the 1,500-meter event in three consecutive meets at the Curran Invitational (March 31, 82nd of 117 in a personal best of 4:28.77), the Osprey Open (April 7, 13th of 22, 4:38.77) and the New Jersey Invitational (April 14, 24th of 30, 4:32.29)…Finished 57th of 65 at 800 meters at the Widener Invitational, posting a personal best time of 2:10.82…Ran 1,500 meters at the Lions Invitational (April 28), finishing 56th of 62 in a 4:38.93 clocking…Participated in both the 1,500 M (4:29.29, 13th of 16) and 4x400 (3:36.08, ninth of nine) at the NJAC Championship (May 5).
 
Indoor Track 2011-12: Competed in six meets, running the 400 M, 800 M and mile individually and taking part on the 4x400, 4x800 and distance medley relay teams…Earned NJAC Honorable Mention as part of the DMR team (10:50.82) that finished third of six teams at the NJAC Championship (Feb. 24)…Also ran on the 4x400 relay team at the conference meet, posting a 3:52.00 clocking to finish eighth of nine teams…Opened season at the Bow-Tie Classic (Dec. 3) by finishing 25th of 29 in the 400-meter dash (1:00.29) and second of five with the 4x800 team (8:36.46)…Posted his personal best 800-meter indoor time (2:05.81) and finished 39th of 59 at the Gotham Cup (Jan. 13)…Also ran the 800 M at the Frank Colden Invitational Feb. 4 (2:09.69) and the Monmouth Invitational Feb. 18 (2:10.42)…Ran the mile for the lone time all season at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 20), finishing 28th of 37 (5:04.77).
 
Cross Country 2011: Competed in four invitationals in his first year of collegiate cross country…Made his debut at the Dutchman Invitational (Sept. 10), an event that was shortened from 8K to slightly over 5K due to severe flooding around Lebanon Valley College…Posted an 18:35.81 clocking to finish sixth on the Raptors and 108th out of 160 competitors…Finished seventh on the Raptors and 50th of 82 at the 6K Osprey Open (Sept. 24), notching a time of 21:53.80…Ran his first collegiate 8K race in a time of 31:11 at the Paul Short Run (Sept. 30), finishing sixth on the Raptors and 270th of 357 overall…Placed ninth among Rutgers-Camden runners at the NJAC Championship (Oct. 29), posting an 8K time of 31:12.41 to finish 79th overall out of 94.
 
High School: Four-year spring track letterman for Coach Matt Cieslik at Cherry Hill High School East…Ran anywhere from 400-1,500 meters…Also ran cross country…Three-year Honor Roll student.
 
Personal: Born August 12, 1992…Nicknames include “Bergs,” “Berger” and “Andy”…Hobbies include collecting track spikes and pepper mills, and taking pictures…Enjoys road trips to Philadelphia and New York City with his grandfather and going out to nice restaurants…Business Marketing major at Rutgers-Camden…Plans on going to wine school after graduation…Plans to keep racing and live in Southern California at some point in the near future…Andrew is the son of Barbara and Jeff Berger of Cherry Hill.
