A letter winner for all three seasons during her freshman year at Rutgers-Camden, Catherine Fiore made a stellar debut with the women’s soccer team during the fall 2013 season before moving on to record-setting success with the indoor and outdoor track programs. After completing her second season of soccer as an all-conference player during the 2014 fall season, she returns to the indoor track program.
Soccer 2014: Led team in scoring for the second straight year, collecting six goals (three game winners) and two assists for 14 points…Played in 17 games, starting nine…Earned All-New Jersey Athletic Conference Second Team honors…First NJAC Second Team player on the Scarlet Raptors since Jessica Leoni in 2007…Notched the game-winning goal in 1-0 victories over New Jersey City University (Sept. 27) and Ramapo College (Oct. 11)…Added winning goal in a 2-0 triumph over the College of Staten Island (Oct. 22)…Her two assists led to game-winning goals by Sarah Boucot against Elms College (a 3-0 win Sept. 6) and by Rebecca Gougher against Cabrini College (1-0, Sept. 24)…Scored the final two goals in the win over Elms College to pick up five points in the game, with the goals coming 47 seconds apart for the ninth-fastest two goals in program history…Also notched a goal in the Raptors’ season-opening 3-1 loss to Castleton State (Aug. 30).
Outdoor Track 2014: Completed her record-setting freshman year with program marks in the 400-meter dash and the 4x800…Ran in seven outdoor meets and qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 400-meter dash, but was unable to compete due to illness…Participated in five events during the year, mainly in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes…Also ran twice on the Raptors’ 4x400 relay team and once on the 4x800: running the third leg as the Raptors set a program record of 10:22.96 in that event at the New Jersey Invitational (April 12)…Finished in the top 10 of her races at practically every big meet, with the lone exceptions being a stellar 13th of 51 performance in the 200-meter dash (26.74) at that New Jersey Invitational and an 11th-place finish of 16 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 4, 1:01.17)…Finished second of 15 (1:00.24) and second of 14 (1:01.53) in the 400-meter dash at the Osprey Open (April 5) and the WCU Open (April 25), respectively…Notched a program record of 59.49 in the 400-meter dash, earning an ECAC qualifier and finishing fifth of 23, at the Widener Invitational (April 19)…Also was sixth of 25 at Widener in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 26.58…In addition to her performance in the 400-meter dash at the NJAC Championships, she also placed ninth of 21 in the 200-meter dash (26.64) and ran the anchor leg on the Raptors’ 4x400 team (4:36.95).
Indoor Track 2013-14: Competed in four indoor meets and earned team MVP honors…Set program records in the 400-meter dash and with the 4x400 relay team…Also ran the 200-meter dash…First collegiate meet was at the Monmouth Winter Invitational (Feb. 8) when she finished 10th of 22 at 200 meters (28.44) and 17th of 24 at 400 meters (1:05.49)…In her second meet, the Princeton Invitational on Feb. 23, she set the indoor program record in the 400-meter dash (1:02.76) while finishing 20th of 33…A week later at the NJAC Championships she broke her own 400-meter program record, finishing sixth of 21 in a time of 1:00.50…Also ran the anchor leg on the 4x400 team with set a program record of 4:25.62 in finishing seventh of eight, and posted a time of 28:01 in the 200-meter dash to place 17th of 22 at the NJAC Championships…A qualifier for the ECAC Championships in the 400-meter dash, she posted a 1:02.05 clocking in that event at the ECAC meet March 8.
Soccer 2013: Played in all 18 games, starting five…Led the Scarlet Raptors in goals (5), points (12) and game-winning goals (2), while adding two assists…Started her first collegiate game in the season opener, a 2-1 loss at FDU-Florham (Aug. 31)…Notched the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Elms College (Sept. 8) for her first collegiate points and first game-winning goal…Collected one goal and one assist during an 8-0 victory over Sarah Lawrence College (Oct. 12)…Had her first multiple-goal game, scoring both of the Raptors’ goals in a 3-2 loss at Ramapo College (Oct. 26)…Notched the game-winning goal and added an assist as the Scarlet Raptors ended their season with a 3-0 victory at New Jersey City University (Oct. 30).
High School: Captured eight varsity letters in a stellar athletic career at Paul VI High School, including four spring track letters and two apiece in soccer and winter track…Played soccer for Coach Keith Walters…Earned All-Conference First Team honors in soccer during her senior season…All-Conference Second Team in winter and spring track during both her junior and senior seasons…Team MVP for spring track during junior season…Team MVP in winter track during junior and senior seasons…Coaches Award as a senior.
