Biography
Emmanuel Lewis III had an outstanding collegiate debut as a member of the Rutgers-Camden indoor track team during the 2019-20 winter season, and would have completed his freshman year with the outdoor team had the season not been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. A state discus champion at Willingboro High School, Lewis earned academic honors during his first semester at Rutgers-Camden.
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and Dean’s List student for the 2019 Fall and 2020 Spring semesters.
Outdoor Track 2020: Season cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Indoor Track 2019-20: Competed in the shot put during eight meets and in the weight throw at six meets during his stellar debut season with the Scarlet Raptors’ program…Opened his collegiate career at the Fastrack Season Opener (Dec. 6), placing 20th of 35 in the shot put (11.48 meters) and 11th of 29 in the weight throw (12.73 meters)…Finished 10th of 26 in the shot put (12.37 meters) and 10th of 23 in the weight throw (13.23 meters) at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 13)…Placed second of nine in the weight throw (13.64 meters) and eighth of 14 in the shot put (11.26 meters) at the Dutchmen Invitational (Jan. 17)…Finished 21st of 38 in the shot put (11.63 meters) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 25) at Ursinus College…Returning to Ursinus on Feb. 8 for the Frank Colden Invitational, finished 12th of 42 in the shot put, setting his short-lived PR of 12.44 meters…Notched a PR of 14.05 in the weight throw (seventh of 29) and added a shot put of 11.71 meters (13th of 31) at the Susquehanna Invitational (Feb. 15)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships, finished 18th of 32 in the shot put (11.24 meters) and also competed in the weight throw, but fouled during the event…Saved his top shot put of the season for the ECAC Championships (March 6) when he finished sixth of 15 with his PR of 12.67 meters…The next day at the ECAC meet, finished seventh of 10 with a weight throw of 12.90 meters.
High School: Captured four varsity letters apiece in soccer and in track and field at Willingboro High School…Earned All-South Jersey Second Team track honors as a senior…Was Liberty Division Second Team in track as a sophomore (discus) and Liberty Division First Team during his junior and senior years in track (shot put and discus) for Coach Martin Booker…Also BCSL All-Star First Team in shot put and discus as a junior and senior…Division, County, Sectional and Group 1 State Champion in the discus as a senior…Group 1 State Relay Champion for the shot put during senior indoor season…Named Willingboro’s outdoor track MVP as a senior…BCSL Second Team goalkeeper for Coach Chuck James…BSCL soccer senior showcase attendee…All-Division Second Team as a senior goalkeeper in soccer…Holds three school records as a soccer goalie…Named Willingboro’s Most Improved Athlete in soccer during his junior year…NJSIAA Student Advisory Council (track & field and soccer)…NJSIAA Student-Athlete Advisory Council…NJEA News 12 Scholar Athlete of the Week and NJEA News 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year (track & field and soccer)…Capped his scholastic career as a senior by being named Willingboro’s 2019 Male Athlete of the Year…Consistent Honor Roll and Principal’s List all four years of High School…Top 30 in his senior class…Kappy Beautillion Scholarship recipient…Boule Scholarship recipient…Senior class treasurer…Graduated from Willingboro High School in 2019.
Personal: Born March 13, 2001…Nicknamed “Manny”…Likes solving Rubik’s Cubes, drawing, listening to music and watching youtube…Is very interested in sports podcasts or pop culture podcasts…Management major at Rutgers-Camden…Plans to become a sports statistician after college for a major sports team or organization, and build his own database on different stats...Emmanuel is the son of Rhonda Lewis and Emmanuel Lewis Jr. of Willingboro.
