Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Sprinter Ja’Mier Smith-Simons earned his first collegiate letter with the Rutgers-Camden indoor track team during the 2022-23 winter season. He added another letter with the 2023 outdoor track team.
 
Outdoor Track 2023: Competed in four meets, including three times in the 200-meter dash, twice at 400 meters and once apiece with the 4x100 and 4x400 relays…Opened the spring running 27.90 (37th of 37) at 200 meters in the Stockton Invitational (March 25)…Cut his 200-meter time to a PR of 25.79 (90th of 107) at the Danny Curran Invitational (April 1), while also running at 400 meters (64th of 72, 1:01.16)…At the Lions Invitational (April 29), finished 76th of 78 at 200 meters (27.48) and sixth of eight with the 4x100 team (49.49)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 6-7), set a 400-meter PR (58.57, 27th of 29) on the opening day and placed ninth of nine with the 4x400 team (3:50.16) on the final day.
 
Indoor Track 2022-23: Competed in four meets in six different events…Made his collegiate debut in the 200-meter dash at the Fasttrack Season Opener (Dec. 2), finishing 58th of 64 in a time of 26.17…Competed in the 400-meter dash (1:02.94) and placed 12th of 15 at the Bow-Tie Invitational (Dec. 9)…Competed in four events at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 4), setting a PR in the 60-meter dash (8.24, finishing 55th of 62), the high jump (1.53 meters, 13th of 15) and the 4x200 (1:46.25, 16th of 17), while also finishing 16th of 17 with the 4x4300 team (4:28.78)…Closed his season at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 20), setting a PR at 400 meters (59.35, 25th of 26) and the 4x400 (3:57.69), while also attempting the high jump (no height).
