Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Sprinter Marsel Chavarria joined the Rutgers-Camden indoor track late in the 2021-22 indoor season and remained with the Scarlet Raptors throughout the 2022 outdoor season and the 2022 cross country season. He added his second indoor track letter during the 2022-23 winter season.
 
Outdoor Track 2023: Did not compete.
 
Indoor Track 2022-23: Competed in three meets…Finished 19th of 19 in the 60-meter dash at the Fasttrack Opener (Dec. 2), posting a 9.09 clocking…Was a member of the 4x400 team that finished fourth of four (5:08.12) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 21)…Set his  PR in both the 200-meter dash (27.62, finishing 61st of 70) and the 4x400 (4:28.78, placing 16th of 17) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 4), while also attempting the high jump for the first time (no height).
 
Cross Country 2022: Ran in two 8K meets…Finished third on the Raptors and 305th of 323 overall at the Inter-Regional Border Battle (Oct. 15), posting a time of 45:08.7…Notched his top 8K time of 43:02.8 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Oct. 29), finishing fifth on the team and 97th of 100 overall.
 
Outdoor Track 2022: Competed in six meets for the Scarlet Raptors, performing in the long jump four times, with the 4x100 relay team (four times) and with the 4x400 team (once)…Opened the season finishing 18th of 20 in the long jump (4.94 meters) at the Stockton Invitational (March 26)…Set his PR of 5.53 meters in the long jump at the Danny Curran Invitational (April 2), finishing 22nd of 27 athletes…Competed in both the long jump (32nd of 38, 5.05 meters) and the 4x100 (10th of 10, 49.50) at the Osprey Open (April 9)…Set his PR of 48.92 in the 4x100 (fourth of four) at the Lions Invitational (April 30)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 8), finished 18th of 19 in the long jump (5.04 meters) and seventh of eight in the 4x100 (51.99)…Ran the 4x400 (second of two teams, a PR of 4:24.61) at the ECAC Championships (May 18) and was a member of the 4x100 team at the ECAC meet on May 19, but the team didn’t finish the race.
 
Indoor Track 2021-22: Jointed the team in February, in time to compete in the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 5), where he placed 34th of 36 in the 60-meter dash (8.57) and 36th of 40 in the 200-meter dash (28.10)…At the Fastrack National Invitational (Feb. 11), placed 74th of 80 at 60 meters (7.98) and 135th of 138 at 200 meters (a PR of 26.63)…Competed in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 21), setting a PR of 7.91 in the 60-meter dash (finishing 25th of 29) and running on the 4x200 relay team (1:48.12), which placed ninth of nine teams.
 
High School: Attended Freedom Prep Charter School in Camden…Graduated in 2019.
