Biography

One of the top throwers on the Scarlet Raptors’ track team during her career at Rutgers-Camden, Nicole DeMarco earned her fourth letter with the indoor team during the winter of 2019-20. She would have added her fourth outdoor letter if the coronavirus pandemic hadn’t cancelled the spring season. In her four years on campus, DeMarco has served as a team captain, served with the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), been named the track program’s Most Dedicated Athlete and captured numerous academic honors.
 
DeMarco also helped the women’s basketball program during the 2018-19 season and participated in one meet with the 2019 cross country team.

Outdoor Track 2020: Season cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Indoor Track 2019-20: Served as the women’s indoor track team captain…Competed in six meets in the shot put…Finished eighth of 29 in the shot put (9.95 meters) at the Fastrack Season Opener (Dec. 6) before fouling in the event at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 13)…Placed 11th of 18 at the Dutchmen Invitational (Ja. 17) with a shot put of 9.21 meters…Finished 25th of 55 in the shot put (9.16 meters) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 8)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 24), had a shot put of 9.99 meters to finish 12th of 27…Closed her season at the ECAC Championships (March 6), finishing ninth of 13 with her top shot put of the season (10.06 meters).
 
Cross Country 2019: Helped fill the Raptors’ cross country team at one meet, competing in the 5K Nick Russo Halloween run…Finished fifth on the team and 14th of 14 overall in a time of 36:09.34.
 
Outdoor Track 2019: Competed in seven meets, capping her season by competing in the ECAC Championships (May 15-16) in both the javelin (11th of 18, 28.67 meters) and the shot put (14th of 19, 10.09 meters)…Leading up to the ECAC meet, posted ECAC qualifiers at all five of her competitions in the shot put and at four of her five meets throwing the javelin…Set her outdoor PR in the shot put (10.55 meters) and finished eighth of 16 at the season-opening Stockton Invitational (March 23), setting a trend that saw her throw over 10 meters in the shot put during all of her competitions…Had her first javelin competition at the Danny Curran Invitational (March 30), finishing 22nd of 29 with a throw of 26.67, the only time she didn’t have an ECAC qualifier in the event all spring…Finished 10th of 24 in the shot put (10.18 meters) and third of nine in the javelin (30.44 meters) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 5)…Placed fourth of 17 in the javelin (31.08 meters) at the Osprey Open (April 12) and 13th of 28 in the shot put )10.41) at the same meet on April 13…Finished 14th of 25 in the javelin (30.58 meters) and tied for 24th of 43 in the shot put (10.36 meters) at the Lions Invitational (April 27)…At the two-day New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 4-5), finished 11th of 17 in the javelin (27.00 meters) on the first day and 11th of 29 in the shot put (10.22 meters) the next day.
 
Basketball 2018-19: Joined the women’s basketball program late in the season and appeared in one game…Played against New Jersey City University (Jan. 12), grabbing one defensive rebound and shooting 0-for-1 from the field in three minutes of playing time.
 
Indoor Track 2018-19: Competed in the shot put at six meets, setting a PR of 10.66 meters at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 18), when she finished ninth of 33 athletes…Consistently finished among the top shot putters, beginning with the season-opening TCNJ Open (Dec. 1) when her put of 10.24 meters placed 12th of 27…Finished seventh of 13 (9.87 meters) at the Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 7) and 21st of 29 (9.95 meters) at the Moravian Invitational (Jan. 26)…Placed 14th of 48 (10.29 meters) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 2)…Tuned up for the NJAC meet by placing fifth of 18 in the shot put (10.40) at the Moravian Invitational (Feb. 9).
 
Outdoor Track 2018: Named the Most Dedicated Athlete of the women’s indoor and outdoor track programs…In 10 spring meets, threw the shot put in nine events and the javelin six times…Posted a PR of 31.47 meters while finishing 10th of 19 in the javelin with an ECAC qualifier at the Stockton Invitational (March 31) and also was 10th of 22 in the shot put (10.35 meters) that day…Opened the season at the Delaware Classic (March 24), finishing fifth of 11 in the shot put (10.08 meters) and 11th of 16 in the javelin (25.84 meters)…Finished 10th of 19 in the javelin (26.48 meters) and 11th of 25 in the shot put (10.04 meters) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 6)…Placed 10th of 28 in the shot put at Gwynedd Mercy’s Mid-Week Twilight Invitational (April 11)…At the Osprey Open, finished 16th of 24 in the javelin (25.76 meters) on April 13 and was 13th of 35 in the shot put (10.16 meters) the next day…Had a shot put of 9.75 meters to place 25th of 45 at the Widener Invitational (April 20)…Finished 16th of 43 with a shot put of 10.37 meters at the Lions Invitational (April 28)…Competed in the javelin (16th of 17, 28.20 meters) on the first day of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 5) and set a PR of 10.43 meters in the shot put (11th of 23) the following day…Finished 13th of 14 in the shot put (10.30 meters) at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier (May 14)…Competing in her first ECAC Div. III Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 16), placed 19th of 20 in the javelin (26.95 meters).
 
Indoor Track 2017-18: Competed in the shot put at six invitationals, consistently placing among the top throwers…Established a PR of 10.55 meters at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19), finishing eighth of 20 athletes…Started her sophomore season with a shot put of 10.06 meters to place fourth of nine at the TCNJ Winter Opener (Dec. 2)…Placed 15th of 34 in the shot put (9.89 meters) at the Fast Times Before Finals meet (Dec. 9)…Shot put of 9.32 meters earned her a 21st-place finish out of 43 athletes at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 20)…Finished sixth of 42 with a shot put of 10.12 meters at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3)…Closed the season fifth of eight competitors with a shot put of 10.11 meters in the Fastrack Last Chance meet (Feb. 24).
 
Outdoor Track 2017: Competed in seven spring invitationals, including six times in the javelin and five times in the shot put…Opened the spring season at the Golden Rams Invitational (March 25), placing 10th of 32 in the shot (10.07 meters) and ninth of 17 in the javelin (28.43 meters)…Finished sixth of 15 in the shot put (9.72 meters) and seventh of 12 in the javelin (28.50 meters) at the Stockton Invitational (April 1)…Notched her personal best of 10.10 meters in the shot put (placing second of 10) and also finished fourth of eight in the javelin (29.62 meters) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 8)…Finished 15th of 31 in the javelin (27.85 meters) at the Gwynedd Mercy Mid-Week Twilight Invitational (April 12)…Finished 25th of 47 in the shot put (9.41 meters) at the Widener Invitational (April 21)…Established her personal best of 30.90 meters in the javelin to place 20th of 40 at the Lions Invitational (April 28)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 6-7), finished 13th of 17 in the javelin (29.18 meters) on the first day and placed 10th of 21 in the shot put (9.65 meters) the next day.
 
Indoor Track 2016-17: Competed in the shot put at six indoor meets during her first season of collegiate track…Placed 12th of 25 in the shot (9.23 meters) at the Bow-Tie Classic (Dec. 3)…Finished 21st of 37 (9.51 meters) in the shot put at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 9)…Finished 14th of 34 (9.30 meters) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 21) and fifth of 19 (9.75 meters) six days later at the Widener Field Meet…Collected her first throw over 10 meters with a shot put of 10.02 meters at the St. Joseph’s College Invitational (Feb. 11), finishing 15th of 46…Notched a personal best of 10.05 meters in the shot to place eighth of 19 at the NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 20).
 
High School: Multi-sport varsity letterwinner at Gloucester City High School, graduating in 2016…Earned four varsity track and field letters for Coach Lisa DePrince….Also captured three letters in field hockey and two in basketball.
 
Personal: Born March 5, 1998…Nicknamed “Nikki”…Likes to hang out with friends, meet new people, go to school, listen to music, work and play sports…Health Sciences major at Rutgers-Camden…Plans to continue her education in grad school and earn a doctorate in health sciences…Wants to focus on rehabilitation in pediatrics…Nicole is the daughter of Jacqueline DeMarco of Gloucester City.
