Biography

2655John Waters posted the best semester of his brief collegiate golf career during the fall of 2015. In two rounds, he averaged 90.0 for the Scarlet Raptors.
 
A two-year letterman on the Rutgers-Camden baseball team before joining the golf program, Waters has played three semesters on the links. He owns a 93.8 average in five career rounds.
 
During two years as a pitcher for the baseball team, he compiled a 4-1 record and a 3.52 ERA in 46 innings. He made 16 appearances on the mound, including six starts.
 
Fall 2015: Averaged 90.0 in two rounds…Shot an 18-over par 89 at the Stockton Invitational (Oct. 7), tying for third on the Raptors’ B Team…He tied for ninth of 20 golfers overall…Closed the season with a round of 91 at the RU-Camden Scarlet Raptor Fall Invitational (Oct. 26)…Finished fifth on the B Team and tied for 52nd of 73 golfers overall.
 
Spring 2015: Competed in two invitationals, compiling a 96.0 average…Shot a 93 at the Stockton Invitational (April 8), finishing third on the Raptors’ B Team and 15th of 20 overall…Tied for 61st of 69 overall and finished fifth on the B Team, shooting a 99 at the RU-Camden Scarlet Raptor Spring Invitational (April 13).
 
Fall 2014: Competed in one invitational with the golf program…Shot a 97 at the RU-Camden Scarlet Raptors Fall Invitational (Oct. 17), finishing fourth on the B Team and tying for 69th overall out of 87 golfers.2369
 
Baseball 2014: Played in seven games, including six appearances on the mound…Made three starts and posted a 1-0 record and a 2.60 ERA in 17.1 innings…Allowed 23 hits and 12 runs, five of them earned…Walked nine and struck out six…Made first appearance of the season with two innings of relief work against Amherst College (March 16), walking two and striking out two, without allowing a hit or a run…Made first start against Trinity (March 22), working six innings and allowing seven hits, five runs (two earned) and two walks…Struck out one and collected the victory – his lone decision of the season – in an 11-5 Raptor win…Also pitched shutout ball against FDU-Florham (April 1, one inning), Penn State-Abington (April 9, two innings) and Brandywine (April 22, three innings)…Defensively, had three of his four season putouts in the Trinity outing.
 
Baseball 2013:  Made 10 appearances and posted a 3-1 record and a 4.08 ERA in 28-2/3 innings…Allowed 19 runs (13 earned) and 27 hits while walking 15 and striking out 12…Tied for third on the team with one complete game...Named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 25 and added honors as the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association Div. II/III Rookie Pitcher of the Week the same day…Made collegiate debut with 2-2/3 hitless innings of relief, allowing one unearned run and two walks and striking out three against New Paltz (February 24)… Picked up his first collegiate win in that contest when the Raptors posted a 4-3 victory…That outing helped him win Rookie Pitcher of the Week honors from both the NJAC and the NJCBA…Had 1-2/3 scoreless innings against Western New England (March 17) in his second appearance, allowing two walks and two hits, while striking out one in a 7-6 Rutgers-Camden win…Made first collegiate start against Bowdoin (March 20) and earned the victory in an 11-2 win, working seven innings and allowing eight hits, one walk and two earned runs…Had another seven-inning start against FDU-Florham (March 26), allowing seven hits, three earned runs and one walk, while striking out four in an 8-4 victory which hiked his record to 3-0…Suffered his only loss of the season in a 12-5 setback against DeSales (April 16)...He allowed five runs (only one earned), four hits and two walks in two innings, while striking out one…Followed that outing with two perfect innings against Rutgers-Newark (April 24) as the Scarlet Raptors posted an 8-2 victory…Owned a 3.28 ERA until his final game of the season, when he worked four innings in relief and allowed five runs (four earned) in the Raptors’ 12-0 loss at Ramapo College (April 27).
 
High School: Captured three varsity baseball letters at Absegami High School for Coach Brian Wastell…Two-time Cape-Atlantic League Honorable Mention (junior and senior seasons)…Team captain as a senior in 2012…Earned a Student Athlete Scholar Award, given for attaining a GPA above 93.
 
Personal: Born November 7, 1993…Earned a Business School scholarship…Hobbies include golf…Member of the Rutgers-Camden Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)…Marketing major at Rutgers-Camden… John is the son of John and Traci Waters of Egg Harbor City.
