Biography
Adney Cardoza made his Rutgers-Camden athletic debut with the men’s tennis program during the 2018-19 scholastic year and was all set to return for the 2019-20 year before the spring season was cancelled by the coronavirus pandemic.
Cardoza played in numerous All-India tournaments when he attended high school in Mumbai, but left the circuit to concentrate on his studies.
An accomplished actor as well, he has appeared in many commercials, hosted a show when he was younger and acted in a Bollywood movie. Some of his work is available for viewing on YouTube.
Academics: Great Northeast Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference for the 2018-19 scholastic year…New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2019-20 scholastic year…Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2019 Fall and 2020 Spring semester...One of 47 athletes on the 171-member 2020 Spring AD Honor Roll to post a 4.0 GPA.
Tennis 2019-20: Season cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tennis 2018-19: Posted a 5-5 record in singles (1-3 first singles, 2-2 second singles and 2-0 at the third flight) and a 3-4 mark in doubles (2-4 first doubles, 1-0 second doubles), while combining with Vatsal Patel…Made his collegiate debut against Neumann (March 9), losing at both first singles (2-6, 0-6) and first doubles (3-8)…After dropping his first four singles matches of the season, won five of his last six, beginning with a 3-6, 6-0, 12-8 marathon victory against the College of Staten Island (April 7) at second singles for his first career win…Lost his first four doubles matches before earning an 8-0 victory against Albertus Magnus at second doubles (April 13)…Finished the season with wins at first doubles against Neumann (April 25, 8-4) and Penn State-Brandywine (April 27, 8-1)…In his last four singles matches, earned wins at the No. 3 spot against Albertus Magnus (6-0, 6-1 on April 13) and Rutgers-Newark (6-1, 6-1 on April 20), before winning at second singles against Neumann (6-0, 6-2, April 25) and at first singles against Penn State-Brandywine (6-3, 6-2, April 27).
High School: Graduated from R.N. Podar School in Mumbai, India.
Personal: Born November 5, 1997…Interests include tennis, beatboxing, coding and acting…Computer Science major at Rutgers-Camden…Adney is the son of Greg Cardoza, who works in Liberia, Africa, and Shaila Cardoza, who is in Mumbai.
