Biography

3093During his first season of collegiate tennis, Anthony Gendin was the Scarlet Raptors’ No. 1 singles player and captured a pair of honors from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Gendin earned All-GNAC Second Team Singles honors and added GNAC Scholar Athlete recognition. He also helped Rutgers-Camden qualify for its first berth ever in the GNAC playoffs and was part of the Raptor team that earned the GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award.
 
In addition to his conference honors, Gendin was named to the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the Spring 2016 semester.
 
Tennis 2015-16: The Scarlet Raptors’ No. 1 singles player, posted a 3-9 record at that spot on the way to earning GNAC Second Team honors…In doubles, teamed with Ryan Christopher to compile a 5-7 record overall, including 5-6 at second doubles and 0-1 at third doubles...Had a combined 8-16 record…Played close matches in nearly every one of his singles losses, including a pair of three-set defeats against Lehman College (7-5, 4-6, 6-10 on March 12) and John Jay College (6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 3-6 on March 19)…Went 2-1 in GNAC play, including a 7-5, 4-0 (retired) victory against Albertus Magnus College (April 16) for his first collegiate singles win…Won 6-2, 6-1 at Staten Island on April 25…Posted anther GNAC victory against Rutgers-Newark (April 27) in a marathon 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 6-0 match…Notched back-to-back wins at second doubles on March 12 and 19 against Lehman College (8-2) and John Jay College (8-5), respectively…Posted another two-match winning streak at second doubles against Albertus Magnus College (April 16, 8-1) and Berkeley College (April 20, 8-2)…Won his final doubles match of the year against GNAC foe Rutgers-Newark (8-5, April 27)…Out of his seven doubles losses, four came by two-point margins, dropping 6-8 decisions against Muhlenberg College (Feb. 21) and Wilkes University (April 24) and 7-9 losses against Stevenson University (March 26) and the College of Staten Island (April 25).3137
