Head Coach Matt Geiser (3rd season)
College: Rutgers University (2018)
Major: History
Matt Geiser’s second season as the Rutgers-Camden men’s tennis coach was over before it even started, as the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the entire 2020 spring schedule. He returns for his third season at Rutgers-Camden, and his second with intercollegiate competition, during the 2020-21 scholastic year.
Geiser joined the Scarlet Raptors’ coaching staff during the 2018-19 scholastic year as the head coach for men’s tennis. He joined forces with Assistant Coach Mitch Winkler to lead the Scarlet Raptors during the first year that the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) returned sponsorship of men’s tennis. The Raptors also competed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for their fifth, and final season.
Geiser’s Rutgers-Camden record
During his first season at Rutgers-Camden, Geiser’s team posted a 3-8 overall record and 0-3 marks in both the NJAC and the GNAC.
Geiser spent the previous three years assisting Winkler in town tennis programs for Haddonfield, Voorhees, and Williamstown. A student of the game, Geiser has never stopped learning tennis since he first picked up a racquet in 2009. He has played in various leagues and tournaments all around the Philadelphia and New Jersey areas.
After a year to recruit, Geiser looks to make a splash in the NJAC and GNAC conferences. His focus on mental toughness will assist players not only on the court, but also in life.
Geiser grew up in Bellmawr and graduated from Triton Regional High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree in History from Rutgers University in 2018, and is currently enrolled in the MAT program.
