Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Gavin Fernan competed in all four matches for the Scarlet Raptors during the pandemic-shortened 2021 spring season. He also earned a berth on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
 
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2021 Spring and 2021 Fall semesters.
 
Tennis 2021-22: Did not compete.
 
Tennis Spring 2021: Posted an 0-3 mark at fourth singles and went 0-4 in doubles (0-3 teamed with Jose Vargas, twice at third doubles and once at second doubles, and 0-1 with Andrew Yuen at second doubles)…Made his collegiate debut against eventual New Jersey Athletic Conference champion New Jersey City in the season opener (March 26), losing at singles (0-6, 0-6) and at third doubles (0-8)…Dropped a singles match (1-6, 1-6) and a third doubles match (2-8) against perennial NJAC power The College of New Jersey (March 18)…Lost to Ramapo (April 24) in singles (1-6, 0-6) and at second doubles with Vargas (2-8)…In the NJAC semifinals, dropped an 8-1 decision at second doubles against NJCU (May 7), teamed with Yuen.
 
Tennis Fall 2020: Season cancelled due to the pandemic.
 
High School: Captured three varsity tennis letters at Rancocas Valley Regional High School, playing for Coach Jonathan Freitag…Earned Second Team All-Burlington County Scholastic League First Doubles…All-County…Honor Roll student…Graduated in 2020.
 
Personal: Born October 22, 2001…Enjoys hanging with friends, traveling and watching the Sixers…Pre-Nursing major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to become a Registered Nurse and possibly move to New York City…Gavin is the son of Francisco and Rubi Ann Fernan of Lumberton.
