Rutgers-Camden Athletics

A transfer who played two years of junior college tennis with Rowan College at Gloucester County, Vatsal Patel joined the Rutgers-Camden program during the 2018 spring season. He returns this spring for his final year of collegiate eligibility. Academics: Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2017 Fall and 2018 Spring semesters.
 
Tennis 2017-18: Competed in all 10 of the Scarlet Raptors’ matches, going 4-6 in singles (1-5 at fourth singles and 3-1 in the fifth spot) and 3-7 in doubles (1-7 at first doubles and 2-0 at second doubles)…Made his Rutgers-Camden debut against Moravian College (March 10), losing at fourth singles by a 4-6, 6-7 (6-8) score and dropping a 0-8 decision at first doubles, teamed with Jose Vargas…After dropping matches at fourth singles (1-6, 1-6) and first doubles (1-8) against Ursinus College on March 17, earned his first win at Rutgers-Camden in fifth singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Brooklyn College (March 18)…Also dropped a 1-8 decision with Vargas at first doubles against Brooklyn…Earned a singles win at the fourth flight (6-2, 6-3) against Penn State-Brandywine (March 24)…Had a big day against Albertus Magnus (April 8), as the Scarlet Raptors won a pair of matches: posted a 6-0, 6-0 singles win in the opener and an 8-0 victory in the second match, both at fifth singles…Also earned doubles wins at the first spot with Vargas (8-2) and the second flight with Shariq Khan (6-1)…Teamed with Khan for an 8-4 victory at second doubles against Rutgers-Newark (April 15).
 
Pre-Rutgers: Played two seasons with the Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) men’s tennis program.
