Biography

A.J. Shaw has earned two varsity letters with the Rutgers-Camden indoor track program and one apiece during the outdoor track and cross country seasons. After setting a PR in seven different indoor events over the 2019-20 winter, Shaw lost his chance to compete during the 2020 outdoor season when the spring schedule was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Outdoor Track 2020: Season cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Indoor Track 2019-20: Competed in six meets, setting a PR in seven events…In his first meet at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout, finished 22nd of 28 at 600 meters (a PR of 1:34.63) and ninth of 12 with the sprint medley team (a PR of 3:58.58)…Had a PR of 58.53 at 400 meters to finish 37th of 53 at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 25)…Finished fifth of 13 with the 4x800 team (8:35.37) at the Frank Colden Invitational (8:35.37)…Had a pair of PR times at the Susquehanna Invitational in the 800 meters (31st of 44, 2:12.30) and with the 4x400 team (third of 16, 3:36.62)…Ran both the 4x800 (seventh of nine, 8:40.15) and the distance medley relay (eighth of eight, 12.19.32) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 24)…Closed the season setting a PR in two relays on back-to-back days at the ECAC Championships (March 6-7), finishing fourth of six in the 4x200 (1:37.70) on the first day and second of five in the 4x800 (8:23.44) the next day.
 
Cross Country 2019: Competed in seven meets, beginning with the season-opening 5K Bryn Mawr Invitational (Aug. 30), where he finished fifth on the team and 68th of 107 overall (21:42.13)…Placed fifth on the Raptors and 25th of 37 overall (34:32.5) at his first 8K race, the Dan Talbot Open (Sept. 27)…Posted an 8K time of 34:13.8 while finishing sixth on the team and 107th of 162 overall at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial (Oct. 12)…Posted 8K times of 31:56.1 (finishing fifth on the team and 249th of 256 overall) and a PR of 31:06.4 (seventh on the team, 89th of 105) at the Inter-Regional Border Battle (Oct. 19) and the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Nov. 2), respectively…Set his 5K PR (18:55.70) at the Nick Russo Halloween run (Nov. 10), placing second on the Raptors and eighth of 29 overall…Closed his season at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals (Nov. 16), finishing fifth on the team and 267th of 300 overall (31:33.5).
 
Outdoor Track 2019: Competed in the 800 meters at all six of his spring meets…Posted a time of 2:14.04 to finish 19th of 24 at 800 meters in the season-0pening Stockton Invitational (March 23)…Finished 94th of 112 (2:13.60) at the Danny Curran Invitational and 18th of 19 (2:17.29) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 5) in the 800-meter runs…Posted a 2:13.37 clocking to place 34th of 57 at 800 meters in the Osprey Open (April 13)…Posted a PR of 2:12.81 at 800 meters (78th of 106) at the Lions Invitational (April 27)…Closed his season at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 5), finishing 28th of 36 at 800 meters (2:13.33).
 
Indoor Track 2018-19: Competed in five indoor meets in five different events…Ran the mile three times and competed once apiece at 800 meters and with the 4x400, 4x800 and the distance medley relay teams…Made his collegiate debut at the TCNJ Open (Dec. 1), finishing 31st of 32 in the mile (5:36.79)…Placed 66th of 70 in the mile (5:26.63) at the Gotham Cup (Jan. 18) and set a PR of 5:22.40 in the mile (46th of 47) at the Moravian Invitational (Jan. 26)…At the Frank Colden Invitational, ran at 800 meters (40th of 53, 2:17.07) and with the 4x400 team (3:51.90, 10th of 11)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 18), competed in both the 4x800 (seventh of eight, 9:31.72) and the DMR (seventh of seven, 12:06.30).
 
High School: Graduated from Eastern Regional High School in 2018.
