Biography

The 2024 New Jersey Athletic Conference champion in the hammer throw, Alexis Marini had a phenomenal career at Rutgers University-Camden, collecting a host of accomplishments with the indoor and outdoor track teams and adding even more accolades in a sensational academic career.
 
A  USTFCCCA All-Metro Region performer in track and in the classroom, Marini holds the outdoor track program record in the discus and added seven honors as Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week.
 
Marini, who will attend the University of Georgia’s School of Law in the 2024 Fall semester captured honors for the 2023-24 scholastic year as Rutgers-Camden’s female winner of the Jeffrey L. Dean Scarlet Raptor of the Year.

Outdoor Track 2024: USTFCCCA All-Metro Region (hammer throw)…NJAC First Team (hammer champion)…NJAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week April 15 and May 15… Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week on May 6…Participated in nine meets, beginning with the Danny Curran Invitational (March 29-30), when she finished 14th of 37 in the shot put (9.63 meters) and fouled in the discus and hammer…Finished second of 24 in the hammer (46.19 meters) at the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival (April 6)…Placed 12th of 23 in the hammer (49.26 meters) at the Larry Ellis Invitational (April 12)…At the TCNJ Invitational (April 13), placed 16th of 34 in the shot put (10.19 meters) and fourth of 41 in the discus (34.63 meters)…At the Paul Donahue Invitational (April 19-20), finished 24th of 52 in the shot put (9.72 meters) and 10th of 29 in the discus (36.13 meters) on the opening day and third of 25 in the hammer (a PR of 51.21 meters) on the second day…Competed against hammer throwers from all divisions at the Penn Relays (April 25), finishing 13th of 20 (49.65 meters)…Placed fifth of 31 in the hammer (49.64 meters) at the Lions Invitational (April 26)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 4-5), became the NJAC champion in the hammer on the opening day, finishing first of 17 (50.86 meters) and competed on the second day in the shot put (13th of 20, 9.85 meters) and the discus (fifth of 15 (35.83 meters)…Capped the semester at the Widener Final Qualifier (May 13), placing third of 17 in the hammer throw (50.83 meters).
 
Indoor Track 2023-24: New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention in the weight throw…USTFCCCA All-Metro Region in the weight throw…Named Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week on Jan. 15…Capped her stellar season at the NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19), finishing third of 17 in the weight throw (a PR of 15.18 meters) and fifth of 19 in the shot put (11.26 meters)… Participated in both the shot put and weight throw at five meets during the winter…Opened the season at the St. Thomas Invitational (Jan. 12), finishing 23rd of 48 in the shot put (9.84 M) and third of 51 in the weight throw (14.99 M)…Won the weight throw in a field of 25 athletes (15.13 M) and finished ninth of 35 in the shot put (10.59 M) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 20)…Finished second of 33 in the weight throw (14.23 M) and seventh of 39 in the shot put (10.80 M) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3)…In the all-division FastTrack National Invite (Feb. 9), finished 12th of 55 in the weight throw (14.70 M) and 23rd of 54 in the shot put (10.23 M).
 
Outdoor Track 2023: USTFCCCA All-Metro Region in the hammer throw…Captured New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention in the hammer throw, finishing third of 24 athletes with a PR of 50.47 meters at the NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 6)…Also finished fourth of 22 in the discus (35.78 meters) and 15th of 25 in the shot put (10.34 meters) on the final day of the NJAC Championships (May 7)…Set the program’s record in the discus with a throw of 37.81 meters at the Widener Invitational (April 21), finishing sixth out of 30 athletes…Captured the hammer throw at the Lions Invitational (April 28), beating 33 other athletes with a distance of 48.16, at the time her PR mark…Earned Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week honors in consecutive weeks on April 24 and May 1…Competed in eight meets during the season, including all eight in the hammer, five times in the discus and four times in the shot put…At the season-opening Stockton Invitational (March 25), finished second of 17 in the hammer (45.14 meters) and seventh of 21 in the discus (29.43 meters)…Competed in all three events at the two-day Danny Curran Invitational (March 31-April 1), finishing eighth of 32 in the discus (35.42 meters) and ninth of 52 in the shot put (11.09 meters) the first day and fourth of 33 in the hammer (48.00 meters) on the second day…Also competed in all three events at the Osprey Open (April 7-8), finishing third of 27 in the hammer (44.92 meters) on the opening day and fifth of 40 in the shot put (10.64 meters) and tied for sixth of 40 in the discus (31.90 meters) on the second day…In a meet against mainly Division I athletes, April 14 at the Larry Ellis Invitational, finished 17th of 2 in the hammer (47.75 meters)…In addition to her program record-setting discus throw at the Widener Invitational, also finished 22nd of 50 in the shot put (10.12 meters) on April 21 and fourth of 29 in the hammer (47.37 meters) on April 22…Closed her season at the Widener Qualifier (May 15), finishing first of 16 athletes in the hammer throw (49.82 meters).
 
Indoor Track 2022-23: Collected three of the 13 points scored by the women’s track team at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 20) by finishing sixth of 19 athletes in the weight throw (13.92 meters)…Competed in six meets during the season, beginning with the Fasttrack Season Opener (Dec. 2), when she finished eighth of 20 in the weight throw (11.80 meters)…Placed third of 23 in the weight throw (13.14 meters) and fifth of 38 in the shot put (10.38 meters) at the Bow-Tie Invitational (Dec. 9)…Competed at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 21), finishing third of 22 in the weight throw (13.53 meters) and 11th of 28 in the shot put (9.70 meters)…Finished fifth of 40 in the weight throw (13.57 meters) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 4)…Set a PR of 14.02 meters in the weight throw, finishing 16th of 63, at the Fasttrack National Invitational (Feb. 10)…Named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on Dec. 12 and Feb. 13.
 
Outdoor Track 2022: Competed in three throwing events and established a PR in each one over seven outdoor meets…Opened the season throwing the discus (fourth of 23, 32.38 meters) and the hammer (third of 14, 38.63 meters) at the Stockton Invitational (March 26)…Competed in the discus (seventh of 22, 31.09 meters), the shot put (10th of 32, 10.08 meters) and the hammer (fifth of 23, 38.77 meters) at the two-day Danny Curran Invitational (April 1-2)…Competed in all three events at the two-day Osprey Open (April 8-9), finishing ninth of 29 in the hammer (38.04 meters) on the opening day and placing 11th of 41 in the discus (33.04 meters) and 15th of 43 in the shot put (10.60 meters) on the second day…Notched a PR of 35.19 meters to finish eighth of 28 in the discus on the first day of the Widener Invitational (April 22), while also placing 16th of 47 in the shot put (10.17 meters)…On the second day at Widener (April 23), finished 11th of 28 in the hammer (39.36 meters)…Finished ninth of 33 in the hammer (41.76 meters) at the Lions Invitational (April 29) and placed 11th of 31 in the discus (34.85 meters) and 19th of 40 in the shot put (10.53 meters) the next day at that meet…Had a stellar performance at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 8-9), finishing fourth of 20 in the hammer (42.20 meters), placing seventh of 24 in the discus (32.73 meters) and finishing ninth of 23 with a shot put PR of 11.16 meters…Closed her season with an outstanding performance at the ECAC Championships (May 18-19), finishing third of 10 in the hammer the first day (a PR of 45.31 meters) and second of nine in the discus (33.14 meters) and fourth of 10 in the shot put (11.03 meters) the second day.
 
Indoor Track 2021-22: Competed in the shot put at all seven of her meets and competed in the weight throw at six of them…Opened her season at the Fastrack Season Opener (Dec. 3), placing eighth of 35 in the shot put (10.94 meters) and 16th of 25 in the weight throw (10.32 meters)…The performance earned her honors on Dec. 6 as Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week…Finished fourth of 15 in the weight throw (a PR of 11.50 meters) and 10th of 26 in the shot put (9.81 meters) at the Bow-Tie Invitational (Dec. 10)…Finished 23rd of 43 in the shot put (10.10 meters) and 27th of 39 in the weight throw (10.84 meters) at the Gotham Cup on Jan. 21…At the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 5), placed ninth of 44 in the shot put (10.86 meters) and 11th of 30 in the weight throw (11.11 meters)…Notched a PR of 11.30 meters in the shot put (24th of 59) and also was 56th of 65 in the weight throw (10.27 meters) at the Fastrack National Invitational (Feb. 11)…Finished sixth of 21 in the shot put (11.22 meters) and 13th of 17 in the weight throw (10.88 meters) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 21)…Closed the winter season placing third of 15 in the shot put (10.71 meters) at the Fastrack Last Chance meet (Feb. 25).
 
Outdoor Track 2021: Competed in three events – the hammer throw, shot put and discus – at four meets during her first collegiate season…Made her Scarlet Raptor debut at the season-opening Stockton Invitational #1 (March 26), finishing nine of 13 athletes in the shot put (9.92 meters), 10th of 13 in the discus (26.96 meters) and 10th of 10 in the hammer (28.40 meters)…At the Stockton Invitational #2 (April 2), set her PR in the hammer, finishing eighth of nine with a throw of 32.80 meters, while placing eighth of 13 in the shot put (9.59 meters) and ninth of 12 in the discus (28.01 meters)…Notched her PR of 10.12 meters in the shot put, while finishing ninth of 18 at the Osprey Twilight Meet (April 30), and also placed eighth of 12 in the hammer (30.41 meters) and seventh of 17 in the discus (29.46 meters)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 8), finished 10th of 21 in the discus with a PR of 30.83 meters, placed seventh of 20 in the shot put (10.08 meters) and was 13th of 18 in the hammer (29.62 meters).
 
Indoor Track 2020-21: Season cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
High School: Earned six varsity letters in track and field and one in swimming at Woodstown High School…Served as a winter track team captain for Coach Joe Frassenei…Was named Athlete of the Month…National Honor Society member during both her junior and senior years…Graduated from Woodstown High School in 2020.
 
Personal: Born June 27, 2002…Nicknamed “Lex”…Hobbies and interests include lifting, golfing, reading and yoga…Double major in Economics and Philosophy at Rutgers-Camden…Headed to the University of Georgia School of Law…Alexis is the daughter of David and Gerry Marini of Pilesgrove.
