Bianca Cortes made her Rutgers-Camden athletic debut during the 2021-22 indoor track season and continued with the track program during the 2022 outdoor season. She returned for her second year with the indoor and outdoor track programs during the 2022-23 scholastic year.

Academics: Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2021 Fall semester.

Outdoor Track 2023: Competed in the shot put in four meets and the discus in another meet…Opened the season at the Stockton Invitational (March 25) with a shot put of 6.94 meters to finish 25th of 30…Placed 46th of 52 in the shot put (6.81 meters) at the Danny Curran Invitational (March 31)…Threw the discus in her lone meet at the Osprey Open (April 8), finishing 32nd of 40 (15.83 meters)…Placed 45th of 50 in the shot put at the Widener Invitational (April 21)…Had her best shot put of the season (6.97 meters) and finished 24th of 25 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 7).

Indoor Track 2022-23: Competed in the shot put in three indoor meets during the spring semester…Finished 25th of 28 at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 21) with a shot put of 6.88 meters…Raised her distance to 6.94 meters and finished 43rd of 49 at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 4)…Set a PR of 6.96 meters and finished 19th of 20 in the shot put at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 20).

Outdoor Track 2022: Competed in six meets, including the first five meets in the shot put competition…Finished 26th of 27 in the shot put (5.86 meters) at the Stockton Invitational (March 26)…Notched her first six-meter shot put (6.44 meters, 40th of 43) at the Osprey Open (April 9)…Finished 46th of 47 in the shot put (6.97 meters) at the Widener Invitational (April 22)…Notched her PR of 7.01 meters in the shot put, finishing 40th of 40 at the Lions Invitational (April 30)…Threw the discus for the first time at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 9), placing 23rd of 24 with a PR of 16.05 meters.

Indoor Track 2021-22: Joined the Scarlet Raptors late in the season and competed in one meet, the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 5)…Had a shot put of 5.78 meters to place 41st of 44 athletes.

High School: Graduated from Cumberland County Technical Education Center in 2020.

Personal: Born January 15, 2002…Loves to be around friends and family, go for car rides, and listen to music…Art major at Rutgers-Camden with a concentration in Art Therapy…Psychology minor…Post-graduation plans include taking a year off to work in the cosmetology field and then go back to graduate school…Bianca is the daughter of Lakeycha Vellon-Cortes and Richard Cortes of Vineland.
