Biography

Brandon Butts has captured two letters apiece with the indoor and outdoor track programs while competing in numerous track and field events. A Dean’s List student, he also has captured many academic honors at Rutgers-Camden.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2023-24 scholastic year…Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2022 Fall, 2023 Spring, 2023 Fall and 2024 Spring semesters…Dean’s List student.
 
Outdoor Track 2024: Finished 13th of 19 in the triple jump (a PR of 11.63 meters) at the Danny Curran Invitational (March 29) and had a huge day at that meet on March 30, finishing 66th of 96 at 100 meters (12.09), 69th of 90 at 200 meters (a PR of 29.94), 25th of 48 in the long jump (5.90 meters) and eighth of 13 with the 4x400 team (a PR of 3:36.53)…At the two-day Ursinus College Track & Field Festival (April 5-6), finished 12th of 26 in the long jump (5.82 meters) and eighth of nine with the 4x400 team (4:01.27) on the opening day and 24th of 40 in the 100-meter dash (12.15) on the second day…Ran four events at the TCNJ Invitational (April 13), finishing seventh of seven in the triple jump (11.38 meters), 22nd of 37 in the long jump (5.77 meters), third of 11 in the 4x100 (44.05) and eighth of 10 in the 4x400 (3:42.71)…Finished 21st of 21 in the triple jump (11.07 meters) on the opening day of the Paul Donahue Invitational (April 19) and 30th of 59 in the long jump (5.74 meters) the next day.
 
Indoor Track 2023-24: Competed in six meets in the long jump, while adding three other individual events and running on a pair of different relay teams…In the long jump, posted his PR of 5.89 meters while finishing 13h of 26 in the Bow-Tie Invitational (Dec. 8), one week after notching a 5.35-meter mark and finishing 42nd of 46 in the FastTrack Opener (Dec. 1)…Also ran on the 4x400 B Team at the Bow-Tie meet, finishing 14th of 14 (4:21.91)…Competed in four events at the St. Thomas Invitational (Jan. 12), setting three PRs at 60 meters (62nd of 92, 7.58), at 200 meters (70th of 110, 24.26) and with the 4x200 team (13th of 18, 1:33.93), while also posting a 5.78-meter mark to place 39th of 53 in the long jump…Finished 16th of 35 in the long jump (5.76 meters) and 38th of 68 at 200 meters (24.94) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 20)…Set a PR running with the 4x400 team (3:18.48, 12th of 12) and finished 41st of 47 in the long jump (5.50 meters) at the all-division FastTrack National Invite (Feb. 9)…Posted a PR of 11.30 meters and finished 12th of 13 in his first time competing in the triple jump and also placed 16th of 21 in the long jump (5.88 meters, barely missing a PR) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 19).
 
Outdoor Track 2023: Competed in seven meets, participating in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, the long jump, the high jump and with the 4x100 relay team…Had a busy final weekend of the season at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 6-7), establishing a PR in both the long jump (6.01 meters, 18th of 24) and the 100-meter dash (11.83, 23rd of 30), while also helping the 4x100 team finish ninth of 10 (47.26)…Made his outdoor debut at the Stockton Invitational (March 25), competing in the long jump (seventh of 15, 5.37 meters), with the 4x100 team (sixth of eight, 52.00) and running his lone 200-meter dash of the season to establish his PR (26.56, 32nd of 37)…At the Danny Curran Invitational (April 1), had a long jump of 5.50 meters (44th of 53), ran his first 100-meter dash (12.24, 55th of 81) and posted a 51.39 time with the 4x100 team (11th of 11)…Had his busiest day at the Osprey Open (April 8), competing in four events, including the long jump (5.27 meters, 19th of 36), the 100-meter dash (12.28, 38th of 59), the 4x100 (at PR of 42.93, 11th of 13) and his first collegiate outdoor high jump (a PR of 1.66 meters, tying for sixth of 13)…Finished 37th of 62 at 100 meters (12.28) and fourth of eight with the 4x100 team (47.23) at the Lions Invitational (April 29).
 
Indoor Track 2022-23: Joined the program late in the season and competed at two meets in a variety of events…Made his debut at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 4), finishing 44th of 62 in the 60-meter dash (7.91), 47th of 70 in the 200-meter dash (25.66), and 16th of 17 on both the 4x200 relay (1:46.25) and the 4x400 relay (4:28.78)…Also competed at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 20), setting a PR in four events by finishing 21st of 26 at 60 meters (7.64), 23rd of 26 at 200 meters (25.09), 12th of 15 in the high jump (1.66 meters) and ninth of nine with the 4x400 relay team (3:57.69).
 
High School: Captured two letters for track and field and one basketball letter at Williamstown High School…Graduated with a 4.0 GPA in 2022…Earned academic excellence his junior and senior years…Multiple Principal’s List honors.
 
Personal: Born February 10, 2004…Leonard Brandon Butts…Hobbies include basketball, producing music and gaming…Accounting major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to be a Forensic Accountant…Brandon is the son of Colleen and Leonard Butts of Williamstown.
