Brianna Kearse has made quite an impression during her first two years of collegiate track. Kearse has set Rutgers-Camden program records during both the indoor season (weight throw) and outdoor campaign (hammer). She enters her third outdoor track season after competing in her third indoor season over the winter. She was the women’s outdoor track team MVP during both her freshman and sophomore seasons, and she won indoor team MVP honors as a sophomore.
Indoor Track 2016-17: Competed in one indoor meet during the winter…Finished ninth of 17 in the weight throw (11.22 meters) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships (Feb. 20).
Outdoor Track 2016: Competed in the hammer throw in four meets and also threw the discus at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships…Named the women’s outdoor track team MVP for the second consecutive year…Broke her own program record with a hammer throw of 39.84 meters at the Oscar Moore Open (April 1), while finishing second of 14 athletes…Finished fifth of 17 in the hammer at the Osprey Open (April 8) with a throw of 37.18 meters…Placed 13th of 25 in the hammer (37.14 meters) at the Widener Invitational (April 23)…Competed in the hammer at the NJAC Championships (May 7), finishing fifth of 16 (36.76 meters) to account for four of the seven points collected by the women’s team…The next day, finished 13th of 17 in the discus (27.70 meters) at the NJAC Championships.
Indoor Track 2015-16: Named the women’s indoor track team’s MVP…Set the program’s indoor weight throw record of 12.93 meters/42-5.25 at the Golden Bear Invitational (Jan. 15), finishing fifth of 11…Competed at five indoor meets, four times in the weight throw and twice in the shot put…Set her personal best of 9.89 meters/32-5.5 in the shot put at the Albright Invitational, finishing fourth of 17 athletes...Also competed in the weight throw at that meet, finishing second of 15 with a distance of 12.39 meters/40-7.75…Competed in the weight throw at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship (Feb. 22), finishing fifth of 19 with a throw of 12.50 meters/41-0.25 to account for all four points earned by the women’s team…Opened the season by finishing 26th of 37 in the shot put (8.15 M/26-9.0) at the Bow Tie Classic (Dec. 5).
Outdoor Track 2015: Named the women’s outdoor track team Most Valuable Player…Set a program record with a hammer throw of 38.69 meters/126-11 at the Osprey Open (April 3), finishing sixth of 15…Competed in four outdoor meets, throwing the hammer in each event, while also throwing the discus three times and the javelin once…Opened the spring season with a hammer throw of 33.35 M/109-5, finishing 13th of 36 at the Danny Curran Invitational (March 28)…Named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week on March 30…Added ECAC Division III Metro Rookie of the Week honors on March 31…In addition to her record-setting hammer throw at the Osprey Open, she competed the next day at that meet in the discus and javelin, finishing ninth of 21 in the discus (27.28 M/89-6) and 14th of 24 in the javelin (23.35 M/76-7)…Placed 13th of 24 in the discus (28.72 M/94-3) at the Widener Invitational (April 17) and finished 12th of 22 in the hammer the next day at Widener (31.41 M/103-1)…Competed in both events at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship (May 2-3), fouling in the hammer and placing eighth of 17 in the discus (30.8 M/101-0).
Indoor Track 2014-15: Competed in the shot put at five meets and added the weight throw to her workload at three meets…Made her collegiate debut in the shot put at the Bow Tie Classic (Dec. 6), finishing 18th of 37 (8.87 M/29-1.25)…Had a shot put of 9.11 meters (29-10.75) to finish 25th of 28 and set a program record of 10.37 meters (34-0.25) on her first collegiate outing in the weight throw, finishing 15th of 24 at the St. Joseph’s Invitational (Jan. 17)…Finished 12th of 24 in the shot put (9.04 M/29-8.0) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 7)…Raised her own program record in the weight throw, while winning the event against seven other competitors, with a toss of 12.36 meters (40-6.75) at the Albright Invitational (Feb. 14)…Also finished eighth of 17 in the shot put (8.88 M/29-1.75) at Albright…Competed to two events at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship (Feb. 26), placing 18th of 24 in the shot with a personal best of 9.32 meters (30-7.0) and fouling in the weight throw.
