Biography
Elijah Crouch captured three varsity letters, a trio of academic honors and helped to set a program record in his first year at Rutgers University-Camden. A transfer from Rowan College at Gloucester County, Crouch competed on the cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams during the 2017-18 scholastic year at Rutgers-Camden. He captured MVP honors for the 2017 cross country program.
Program records (through 2017-18): Outdoor Track – 4x200 (1:37.73) with Tom Meyer, Lance Matchett and Jordan Perkins at the Oscar Moore Open (April 6, 2018).
Academics: Named to the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2017 Fall and 2018 Spring semesters…Named to the ECAC Academic Honor Roll for the 2018 Spring semester.
Outdoor Track 2018: ECAC qualifier and participant in both the 4x400 and 4x800…Helped set a program record with a 1:37.73 clocking in the 4x200 (finishing third of three) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 6), while also placing ninth of 20 in the 800-meter run (2:05.05) at that meet…Opened the season at the Delaware Classic (March 24) placing 15th of 27 in the 1,500-meter run (a PR 4:36.13) and fifth of eight in the 4x400 (3:38.40)…Earned New Jersey Athletic Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week (March 26) and added ECAC Div. III Men’s Track Athlete of the Week (March 28)…Clocked a 2:07.40 time at 800 meters to finish 17th of 29 at the Stockton Invitational (March 31)…At the two-day Osprey Open, finished sixth of nine with an ECAC qualifier of 8:29.67 in the 4x800 (April 13) and ran both the 800 meters (17th of 60, 2:04.90) and 4x100 (10th of 11, 45.19) the next day…Finished 45th of 111 at 800 meters (2:01.83) and 14th of 15 in the 4x100 (46.97) at the Widener Invitational (April 21)…Notched PR marks in the 200-meter dash (24.47, 43rd of 61) and 400-meter dash (53.88, 35th of 50), while placing seventh of 10 in the 4x100 (46.13) at the Lions Invitational (April 28)…Collected a pair of PR times at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 6), finishing 13th of 28 at 800 meters (2:00.10) and fifth of eight in the 4x400 (an ECAC qualifier of 3:24.70)…At Swarthmore’s Final Qualifier meet (May 14), finished 64th of 82 at 800 meters (2:01.15) and ninth of 10 in both the 4x100 (a PR of 43.91) and the 4x400 (3:29.82)…At the ECAC Championships, finished fifth of six in the 4x400 (3:26.28 on May 16) and 12th of 12 in the 4x800 (8:53.15, May 17).
Indoor Track 2017-18: Competed in five different events over five indoor meets…Made his Raptor indoor track debut at the TCNJ Winter Invitational (Dec. 2), placing fourth of 10 athletes in the mile (4:52.78) and fifth of five in the 4x400 (3:52.09)…Had PR times at 1,000 meters (18th of 31, 2:49.50) and the 4x800 (seventh of seven, 8:54.37) at the Fast Times Before Finals meet (Dec. 9)…Had a PR in the indoor mile (37th of 46, 4:48.69) and also finished eighth of 10 in the 4x400 (3:35.07) at the Gotham Cup (Jan. 19)…At the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3), finished 22nd of 47 at 800 meters (2:08.28) and fifth of 12 in the 4x400 (3:39.05)…Set a pair of PR’s at the New Jersey Athletic Conference meet, posting a 2:04.63 clocking at 800 meters (12th of 18) and 3:31.81 in the 4x400 (eighth of nine).
Cross Country 2017: Raced in six of the Scarlet Raptors’ seven invitationals, leading the team in each 8K race…Named team MVP…Made his Rutgers-Camden debut at the Bill Fritz Invitational (Sept. 16) and finished 86th of 161 overall in a time of 31:15.49…Placed 47th of 151 (29:21.69) in the Osprey Open (Sept. 23) and was 32nd of 101 in the Jack Saint Clair Memorial race (Oct. 7) with a 31:46.1 clocking…Posted his best 8K time at Rutgers-Camden (28:25.5) and finished 176th of 250 in the Inter-Regional Border Battle (Oct. 28)…Placed 63rd of 89 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Oct. 28) with a 29:05.37 clocking…Closed the season running a 28:38.4 time at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals (Nov. 11) to finish 215th of 290 runners.
Pre-Rutgers: Ran track and cross country for Rowan College at Gloucester County…NJCAA Division III All-American as a sophomore…Also earned NJCAA Division III All-Region honors in cross country.
High School: Cross country and track letterman at Buena Regional High School…First Team All-Cape-Atlantic League…Graduated in 2015.
Personal: Born April 3, 1997…Enjoys “hanging out with my friends, running, anime, video games inspired by my favorite anime and praying and giving thanks to God for life and the opportunities ahead”…Undeclared major…Post-graduation plans are to find his calling. “I’m in love with running and helping people. If I could become a coach one day in the sport I love, it would be nice”…Elijah is the son of Pamela Crouch of Newtonville.
