Rutgers-Camden Athletics

A three-year member of the Rutgers-Camden cheerleading squad, Emoni Poteat joined the outdoor track team for the 2017 season and she continued her track career during both the indoor and outdoor campaigns during the 2017-18 scholastic season.
 
In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Poteat has been named to a pair of Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll lists and has added New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention recognition.
 

 
Outdoor Track 2018: Competed in seven meets, racing in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes and with both the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams…At the season-opening Delaware Classic (March 24), finished 19th of 21 in the 200-meter dash (30.29) and fifth of five as part of the 4x100 team (54.89)…Placed 22nd of 29 in the 100-meter dash (14.47) and 31st of 41 at 200 meters (30.15) at the Stockton Invitational (March 31)…Notched her PR of 1:57.48 in the 4x200 relay as the Raptors placed third of three teams at the Oscar Moore Open (April 6)…Finished 20th of 25 in the 400-meter dash (1:10.69) and seventh of eight in the 4x100 (55.40) at the Mid-Week Twilight Invitational, held at Gwynedd Mercy University on April 11…Notched a PR in the 200-meter dash (29.00) to finish 65th of 93, while also helping the 4x100 team finish 15th of 17 (53.72) at the Widener Invitational (April 21)…Had a busy day at the Lions Invitational (April 28), placing 35th of 45 at 100 meters (14.54), 46th of 64 at 200 meters (29.55) and 10th of 14 in the 4x100 (52.60)…Notched two PR times out of three events at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 5-6), finishing 23rd of 24 in the 100-meter dash (a PR 14.43) and 23rd of 27 in the 200-meter dash (29.41) on the first day of competition and helping the 4x100 team place fourth of eight on the second day with a PR time of 51.72.
 
Indoor Track 2017-18:  Competed in four different events over three meets…In the Fast Times Before Finals meet (Dec. 9), set PR marks in the 200-meter dash (30.72, finishing 55th of 61 athletes) and the 500-meter dash (1:38.14, 43rd of 44)…Ran both the 200-meter dash (30.87, 48th of 73) and the 400-meter dash (1:15.13, 39th of 41) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 20)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19), finished 23rd of 25 at 200 meters (30.94), 21st of 21 at 400 meters (a PR of 1:10.21) and eighth of eight with the 4x400 team (another PR of 4:50.49).
 
Outdoor Track 2017: Ran the 200- and 400-meter dashes in six spring invitationals and also anchored the Scarlet Raptors’ 4x100 relay team on the second day of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 7), where the team placed seventh of seven with a 54.31 clocking…Opened her season at the Golden Rams Invitational (March 25), finishing 38th of 42 at 200 meters (30.85) and 21st of 22 at 400 meters (1:10.83)…At the Stockton Invitational (April 1), posted times of 33.04 in the 200 meters (17th of 17) and 1:14.00 at 400 meters (15th of 16)…Finished 19th of 24 in the 200 (30.20) and ninth of 11 in the 400 (1:11.92) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 8)…Notched a 200-meter time of 30.34 (39th of 58) and a 400-meter clocking of 1:10.89 (24th of 32) at the Gwynedd Mercy Mid-Week Twilight Invitational (April 12)…Placed 59th of 72 at 200 meters (30.25) and 60th of 69 at 400 meters (1:09.32) at the Widener Invitational (April 22)…In addition to her role on the 4x100 team at the NJAC meet, spent the first day of the conference championships (May 6) running in the preliminaries for the 200-meter dash (22nd of 27, 29.55) and the 400-meter dash (16th of 17, 1:08.75), establishing her personal-best times in both events.
 
High School: Graduated from Winslow Township High School in 2014.
 
Personal: Born April 26, 1996...Health Sciences major with a Psychology minor at Rutgers-Camden.
