Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Hector Diaz has competed with the indoor and outdoor track teams during both his freshman and sophomore years at Rutgers-Camden, while adding academic honors.
 
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and a Dean’s List student for the 2024 Spring semester.
 
Outdoor Track: Competed in the 110-meter hurdles at five meets, while also running with both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams…Opened the season at the Stockton Invitational (March 22), finishing eighth of 16 athletes in the 110 hurdles (16.00) and fifth of 12 with the 4x400 team (a PR of 3:29.84)…At the Danny Curran Invitational (March 29), finished 24th of 46 in the 110 hurdles (16.67) and 12th of 15 with the 4x100 team (a PR of 44.63)…Placed eighth of 23 in the 110 hurdles (16.10) and 20th of 27 with the 4x400 team (3:40.69) at the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival (April 5)…In a rare off meet, placed 29th of 29 in the 110 hurdles (27.66) and also finished 13th of 14 with the 4x100 relay team (45.89) at the Paul Donahue Invitational (April 19)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 3), finished ninth of 12 in the 110 hurdles (16.02).
 
Indoor Track 2024-25: Competed in the 60-meter hurdles at five meets and also ran on the 4x200 team twice and in the 200-meter dash once…Had his busiest meet at St. Thomas Aquinas (Jan. 10) when he finished 12th of 33 in the 60-meter hurdles (8.84), 87th of 107 in the 200-meter dash (24.70) and 10th of 17 with the 4x200 team (1:34.61)…Finished 29th of 30 in the 60-meter hurdles (11:14) at the Gotham Cup (Jan. 17)…Placed 12th of 29 in the 60-meter hurdles (8.88) at the Winter Evening Invitational (Jan. 24)…Competed in the 60-meter hurdles at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 8) but didn’t finish…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 22) finished 10th of 16 athletes in the 60-meter hurdles (a season-best 8.75) and placed eighth of eight in the 4x200 relay (1:32.39).
 
Outdoor Track 2024: Competed in the season-opening Danny Curran Invitational (March 30), setting a PR of 23.87 in the 200-meter dash (placing 51st of 90) and a PR of 15.77 in the 110-meter hurdles (sixth of 22).
 
Indoor Track 2023-24: Competed in seven meets, mainly in the 60-meter hurdles, but also running the 200-meter dash and with the 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams…Made his debut at the FastTrack Opener (Dec. 1), finishing 18th of 27 in the 60-meter hurdles (9.16) and 55th of 61 at 200 meters (25.10)…Posted times of 9.02 in the 60 hurdles (second of 14 in the preliminaries) and 8.92 in the finals (third of eight), while adding a PR of 3:46.58 in the 4x400 team (ninth of 14) at the Bow-Tie Invitational…Finished 17th of 31 in the 60 hurdles (8.93) and 76th of 110 at 200 meters (a PR of 24.46), while placing 13th of 18 with the 4x200 team (1:33.93) at the St. Thomas Invitational (Jan. 12)…At the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 20,  finished fifth of 21 in the 60 hurdles preliminaries (8.87) and sixth of eight in the finals (also 8.87), while posting a 3:47.00 time with the 4x400 team (eighth of 14)…Finished fifth in both the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries (out of 14, with an 8.75 time) and the finals (out of seven with an 8.78 time), while helping the 4x200 team place third of 13 (1:34.64) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3)…In the all-division FastTrack National Invite (Feb. 9), finished 34th of 45 in the 60-meter hurdles (9.58)…Set a pair of PRs at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 19), finishing ninth of 17 in the 60-meter hurdles (8.71) and fourth of eight with the 4x200 team (1:31.80).
 
High School: Graduated from Maple Shade High School in 2023.
