Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Sprinter Jahaad Beckford joined the Rutgers-Camden indoor track program last winter and earned his second letter with the outdoor team in the spring. He competed in the 2018 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in three events.
 
Outdoor Track 2018: Competed in five different events (two individual, three relays) over five meets…ECAC qualifier and ran in the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in three events, finishing fifth of six in the 4x400 (3:26.28) on May 16 and  placing fourth of 22 in the 400 intermediate hurdles (55.92) and 12th of 12 with the 4x800 relay (8:53.15) on May 17…Qualified for the ECAC in the 4x800 at the Osprey Open (April 13), placing sixth of nine (a PR 8:29.67)…Finished 26th of 76 with a PR of 51.89 in the 400-meter dash at the Widener Invitational (April 21)…Had ECAC qualifiers in all of his events at the two-day New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 5-6), running a 55.29 in the 400-meter hurdle preliminaries (qualifying fifth of 17) and finishing fifth of eight the next day with a PR of 54.90…Also finished fifth of eight in the 4x400 (an ECAC qualifier and a PR of 3:24.70)…At the Swarthmore Final Qualifier (May 14), ran a PR of 43.91 in the 4x100 and posted a 3:29.82 time in the 4x400, finishing ninth of 10 in both races.
 
Indoor Track 2017-18: Competed at five invitationals in six different events…Made debut at the TCNJ Winter meet (Dec. 2) and set personal records at 300 meters (finishing 14th of 36 with a 36.98 clocking) and in the sprint medley (fifth of seven, 3:50.35)…Set a PR in the 60-meter dash (7.45) and finished 28th of 44 at the Fast Times Before Finals meet (Dec. 9) while also running at 200 meters (32nd of 61, 24.44) and with the 4x400 (13th of 18, 3:42.23)…Had a PR in the 200-meter dash (32nd of 56, 23.26) and also run the 4x400 (eighth of 10, 3:35.07) and the 400-meter dash (45 of 86, 52.21) at the Gotham Cup (Jan. 19)…Finished seventh of 53 (52.43) in the 400-meter dash at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3)…Set a pair of PR’s at the New Jersey Athletic Conference meet, placing ninth of 18 at 400 meters (51.76) and eighth of nine at 4x400 (3:31.81).
 
High School: Graduated from Willingboro High School in 2017…Track letterman for Chimeras’ Coach Martin Booker…Five-time NJSIAA State champion and four-time NJSIAA Sectional champion…All-County in the 400 hurdles, 2017…State champion in the 55 high hurdles, 2017.
 
Personal: Born March 16, 1999…Enjoys driving and exploring new places and, in his off time, hanging out with family and friends…Business major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to open his own accounting firm…Jahaad is the son of Danielle Conaway of Willingboro.
