Biography

Kaila English has had a stellar career as a student-athlete at Rutgers-Camden, earning letters for indoor and outdoor track, helping to set a program record and earning numerous academic honors.
 
Program records (through 2019-20): Indoor Track – 4x200 (1:53.39) at the ECAC Championships (March 6, 2020) with Imani Johnson-Young, Lizette Abah and Kayana Clue.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2019-20 and 2021-22 scholastic years…Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, 2018 Fall, 2019 Spring, 2019 Fall, 2020 Spring, 2021 Fall and 2022 Spring semesters…Dean’s List every semester…One of 47 athletes on the 171-member 2020 Spring AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA… One of only 26 athletes on the 142-member 2021 Fall AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA…One of only 26 athletes on the 119-member 2022 Spring AD Honor Roll to notch a 4.0 GPA.
 
Outdoor Track 2022: Competed in one meet, the season-opening Stockton Invitational (March 26)…Ran the 100-meter dash (14.92, finishing 20th of 28) and the 200-meter dash (37th of 49, 30.98).
 
Indoor Track 2021-22: Competed in one meet, running the 60-meter dash at the Fastrack Last Chance event (Feb. 25) and finishing 23rd of 24 (9.06).
 
Outdoor Track 2020: Season cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Indoor Track 2019-20: Competed in seven meets, competing in six different events…In the Fastrack Season Opener (Dec. 6), finished 52nd of 63 in the 60-meter dash (8.55) and 47th of 55 in the 200-meter dash (a PR 29.67)…Competed in three events at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 13), finishing 27th of 50 in the 60-meter dash (8.54), 32nd of 46 in the 300-meter dash (a PR of 48.47) and ninth of 11 with the sprint medley team (a PR of 4:54.19)…Ran 12th of 59 in the 60-meter dash preliminaries (8.45) to qualify for the finals, where she finished 10th of 12 (8.45) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 25)…Also finished 31st of 57 in the 200-meter dash (30.14) at the Collegeville Classic…At the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 8), finished 24th of 43 in the 60-meter dash preliminaries (8.54) and 17th of 19 in the 4x200 (2:11.45)…Placed seventh of eight in the 4x200 (2:02.09) at the Susquehanna Invitational (Feb. 15)…Set a PR of 8.38 in the 60-meter dash (19th of 24) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 24), while also helping the 4x200 team finish sixth of eight (1:56.08) and the 4x400 team place ninth of nine (4:57.07)…Helped the 4x200 relay team finish fifth of seven in a program-record 1:53.39 time at the ECAC Championships (March 6)…The next day at the ECAC meet, set a PR with the 4x400 team (4:44.24) while placing fourth of five.
 
Outdoor Track 2019: Competed in six invitationals, running sprints at both 100 and 200 meters…Opened her season at the Danny Curran Invitational (March 30) by finishing 48th of 83 at 100 meters (14.14) and 96th of 120 at 200 meters (30.02)…Set a 200-meter PR of 29.06 at the Widener Invitational (April 20), while finishing 68th of 85 and also competing in the 100-meter dash 13.81, 43rd of 65)…Set her 100-meter PR of 13.64 at the Lions Invitational (April 27), placing 37th of 61.
 
Indoor Track 2018-19: Competed in three invitationals…Made her collegiate debut at the Moravian Invitational (Jan. 26), finishing 30th of 44 in the 60-meter dash (8.85) and 40th of 45 in the 200-meter dash (31.06)…Set a PR in both the 60-meter dash (8.79, finishing 34th of 50) and with the 4x200 relay (2:02.50, 11th of 13) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 2)…Ran the 200-meter dash at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 18), setting a PR of 30.54 while finishing 25th of 26.
 
High School: Captured 13 varsity letters in the sports of cheerleading, dance and indoor and outdoor track and field…Earned All-Conference Second Team and Most Valuable Performer honors as a junior in outdoor track…As a senior, received the Coach’s Award for indoor track…Academic Honor Roll from freshman through senior year…Graduated in 2018.
 
Personal: Born December 17, 1999…Hobbies and interests include cheerleading and running…Social Work major at Rutgers-Camden with a Psychology minor...Plans to attend graduate school and obtain her Master’s Degree in social work, planning to become a Medical Social Worker…Kaila is the daughter of Janet and Jermaine English of Pine Hill.
