Biography

Maria Lopez earned her first collegiate letter by running in five meets with the 2024 Rutgers-Camden cross country team. She added two more letters during the 2024-25 indoor track season and the 2025 outdoor track season.
 
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2024 Fall and 2025 Spring semesters.
 
Outdoor Track: Competed in the 800-meter run at four invitationals, beginning with the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival (April 5), when she finished 39th of 42 (3:12.14)…Placed 75th of 79 at 800 meters (2:58.40) at the Paul Donahue Invitational (April 19)…Set an 800-meter PR of 2:57.84, finishing 49th of 56, at the Lions Invitational (April 26)….Closed the season at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 4), finishing 23rd of 25 at 800 meters (3:00.47).
 
Indoor Track 2024-25: Competed in four meets, running at 800 meters on three occasions and in the 200-meter dash once…Made her indoor track debut at the Bow-Tie Invitational (Dec. 7), finishing 23rd of 24 at 800 meters (3:16.71)…Finished 85th of 86 at 200 meters (a PR of 37.71) at the St. Thomas Aquinas meet (Jan. 10)…Ran 800 meters at 3:16.96 (44th of 44) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 8)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 23), finished 15th of 15 at 800 meters in a PR of 3:11.49.
 
Cross Country 2024: Made her Scarlet Raptor debut at the Philadelphia Cross Classic (Sept. 7), running a 5K time of 30:10.02 to place fifth on the Rutgers-Camden team and 57th of 71 overall…Finished fifth on the team and 174th of 180 overall with a 6K time of 39:20.90 at the Osprey Open (Sept. 14)…Ran fourth on the Raptors and 37th of 66 overall at the Highlander Invitational (Oct. 5), posting a 6K time of 34:44.7…Beat her previous 6K times with a 33:05.1 clocking at the Border Battle (Oct. 19) to finish fifth on the team and 96th of 121 overall…Notched her 5K PR of 27:36.8 at the Haverford Invitational (Oct. 25) to finish fourth on the Raptors and 58th of 61 overall…Placed fifth on the team and 96th of 111 overall at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Nov. 2) with a 6K PR time of 31:46.2.
 
High School: Graduated from Camden County Institute of Technology in 2018.
 
Personal: Born November 3, 1999…Notes that “I love all types of sports and am always open to trying new ones, but my favorites are soccer and cross country/track. I enjoy visiting national parks for the hiking trails and scenery.”…Dual Health Sciences and Spanish major at Rutgers-Camden with a minor in Political Science…Following graduation she plans to work at a school as an athletic trainer and work in a physical therapy facility that focuses on injured athletes…Maria is the daughter of Victoria Ramirez of Camden.
