Biography

A multi-talented athlete, Mike Olsen competed with both the Rutgers-Camden men’s tennis and cross country programs during the fall semester. He is joining the outdoor track team for the spring semester, in addition to his tennis commitments.
 
Olsen was a standout tennis star who led Rowan College of South Jersey-Gloucester to the NJCAA national championship.
 
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2025 Fall semester.
 
Cross Country 2025: Ran in three invitationals, beginning with the season-opening 5K Back to the Bowl Invitational on Sept. 6, where he finished seventh on the Scarlet Raptors and 78th of 93 overall (25:53.70)…Set his 8K PR of 38:18.53 at the Osprey Open (Sept. 20), finishing eighth on the team and 145th of 162 overall…Competed at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial (Oct. 11), placing third on the Rutgers-Camden team and 75th of 89 overall (40:56.58).
 
Tennis, Fall 2025: Posted a 5-0 singles record (1-0 at third singles, 4-0 at fourth singles) during the fall semester…Notched a 3-2 doubles mark, paired with teammate John Brady (2-1 at second doubles, 1-1 at third doubles)…Earned singles wins on Sept. 12 against Penn State-Brandywine (7-5, 7-5 at third singles) and captured victories at fourth singles on Sept. 19 against Cairn (3-6, 6-4, 6-3), Sept. 26 against Eastern (6-0, 6-2), Oct. 4 against DeSales (6-0, 6-3) and Oct. 5 against Pratt Institute (6-3, 6-2)…In second doubles play, beat Penn State-Brandywine (7-5) and DeSales (7-5), while suffering a narrow loss to Pratt Institute, 6-7 (3-7)…At third doubles, beat Cairn (6-2) and lost to Eastern (5-7).
 
Pre-Rutgers: Played tennis and golf at Rowan College of South Jersey, where he also founded the school’s pickleball club…In his first season with the Roadrunner’s tennis team, he posted a stellar 22-1 record, with his lone loss coming in the NJCAA national championship final after he had captured the NJCAA Region 19 title in dominant fashion…In his sophomore season at RCSJ, he repeated as the Region 19 champion, won the national title and led the Roadrunners to their first NJCAA National Championship in nearly a decade under Head Coach Brian Rowan…Earned the nickname “Final Boss” after his elite career which included one NJCAA National Championship, two NJCAA Region 19 Championships, one All-America First Team honor and one All-America Second Team honor.
 
High School: Graduated from Haddon Township High School in 2021.

Personal: Born July 15, 2003…Nicknamed “Final Boss”…Finished the 10-Mile Mud Run and was a Top 100 finisher in the 2023 annual Turkey Trot…Off the court, enjoys spending quality time and laughs with family and friends, watching March Madness, and kite surfing at the Jersey Shore…Notes that he is “especially known for one hobby in particular: annoying his eldest sister, Elizabeth.”…Brother to both Elizabeth and Caroline…Finance major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to launch a career in corporate finance, bringing the same focus and drive that defined his tennis career into the business world…Also intends to stay connected to the games he loves, continuing to officiate basketball and umpire Little League baseball whenever his schedule allows…Mike is the son of Glenn and Maria Olsen of Haddonfield.
