Biography

A co-captain on the 2021 outdoor track team, Sean Ward earned three Rutgers-Camden varsity letters during both of his first two years at Rutgers-Camden, beginning with the cross country program and carrying through the winter and spring seasons with the indoor and outdoor track programs. He completed his third year with the Scarlet Raptors’ cross country and indoor track teams during the 2019-20 scholastic year. He would have added his third outdoor track letter as well, but the 2020 spring season was cancelled by the coronavirus pandemic. The 2020-21 indoor season also was cancelled by the pandemic, but Ward returned to competition with the Scarlet Raptors’ brief cross country season in March, 2021. He added another outdoor track letter during the spring of 2021.
 
Ward was named the Most Dedicated Athlete for the 2018 men’s cross country team.
 
Academics: Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll during the 2017 Fall, 2018 Spring, 2019 Fall, 2020 Spring, 2020 Fall and 2021 Spring semesters…Dean’s List student.
 
Outdoor Track 2021: Competed in the 800-meter run at two meets while serving as a team co-captain…Finished 25th of 25 at the Bill Fritz Invitational (April 17), posting a time of 2:37.11…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 9), finished 28th of 28 at 800 meters (2:37.98).
 
Cross Country 2020-21: Ran at both meets during the brief March season, finishing fifth on the team in each one…At the 5K Stockton Invitational (March 6), posted a time of 21:52.44 to finish 23rd of 27 runners…Finished 38th of 39 (34:37.1) at the 8K New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (March 20).

Indoor Track 2019-20: Competed in eight meets with four events, mainly the mile run…Established PR times in a pair of relays…At the Fastrack Season Opener (Dec. 6), finished 40th of 48 in the mile (5:12.32) and helped the 4x800 team place fifth of seven with a PR of 8:56.48…At the Wagner Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 13), finished 21st of 27 in the mile with his season-best time of 5:05.74 and set his PR with the sprint medley team, finishing 10th of 12 (4:00.66)…Ran the mile at the Dutchmen Invitational (Jan. 17, 13th of 14, 5:39.43), the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 25, 39th of 48, 5:24.54), the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 8, 51st of 58, 5:21.58) and the Susquehanna Invitational (Feb. 15, 37th of 42, 5:17.62)…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 24), ran with the distance medley relay team (eighth of eight, 12:19.32)…Closed his season at the ECAC Championships (March 7), finishing 12th of 12 in the mile (5:16.66).
 
Cross Country 2019: Ran in six Scarlet Raptor meets, all 8K events…Opened his season at the Osprey Open (Sept. 21), finishing fifth on the team and 157th of 210 overall (33:38.87)…Finished sixth on the team and 27th of 37 overall (36:24.5) at the Dan Talbot Open (Sept. 27)…Ran fifth on the Raptors and 101st of 162 overall (33:48.1) at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial (Oct. 12)…Placed fourth on the team and 247th of 256 overall (31:19.2) at the Inter-Regional Border Battle (Oct. 19)…During the post-season championships, finished third on the Raptors at both the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Nov. 2) and the NCAA Atlantic Regionals (Nov. 16)…At the NJAC meet, was 81st of 105 overall with an 8K PR of 29:52.3…Ran 261st of 300 (31:07.0) at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals.
 
Outdoor Track 2019: Ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in six meets and the 1,500-meter run at one meet…Set PRs in both events…Posted his 3,000-meter steeplechase PR of 11:03.02 at the Widener Invitational (April 20), finishing 19th of 24…Placed 107th of 120 in the 1,500-meter run at the Lions Invitational (April 27) in a PR of 5:05.18…Competed in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 4), finishing 12th of 14 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:11.43).
 
Indoor Track 2018-19: Set three PRs while participating in five meets…Ran the mile at four meets, including the Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 7), when he notched a PR of 5:03.07 while finishing 10th of 13…Finished 28th of 32 in the mile (5:05.84) at the TCNJ Open (Dec. 1)…Set a pair of PR’s in relays at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 18), finishing seventh of eight in the 4x800 (9:31.72) and seventh of seven in the distance medley (12:06.30).
 
Cross Country 2018: Named the team’s Most Dedicated Athlete…Ran in all eight of the Scarlet Raptors’ invitationals, finishing third on the team at the Delaware Invitational (Sept. 15) and fourth in the other seven events…Posted his 5K PR of 20:10.7 at the Bryn Mawr Invitational (Aug. 31), placing 51st of 103 overall…Finished 95th of 135 at the 8K Philadelphia Metropolitan Invitational (Sept. 8) in a time of 35:05.8…Finished 34th of 47 runners at the Delaware Invitational in a time of 34:00.8…Placed 62nd of 112 with an 8K time of 31:22.38 at the Osprey Open (Sept. 22)…Ran a 33:01 clocking to finish 241st of 292 at the Paul Short Run (Sept. 29)…At the Inter-Regional Border Battle (Oct. 13), finished 388th of 400 (31:33.8)…Placed 82nd of 110 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship (Oct. 27) in a time of 32:33.93…Closed the season at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals (Nov. 10), finishing 246th of 307 runners in a time of 32:20.5.
 
Outdoor Track 2018: Competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in seven meets and at 800 meters in one meet…Opened the season at the Delaware Classic (March 24) by finishing fourth of four in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:02.60) and followed up at the Stockton Invitational (March 31) by slashing his time to 11:40.21 (fifth of five) in the event…Finished second of two in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:30.87) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 6) and 13th of 15 (11:39.17) at the Osprey Open (April 13)…Also ran the event at the Widener Invitational (April 21) and Lions Invitational (April 27), placing 27th of 28 (11:31.39) and ninth of 11 (11:37.20), respectively…Posted his PR in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:21.46) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 5), placing 10th of 10…Ran his lone 800-meter run (2:28.84, 82nd of 82) at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier meet on May 14.
 
Indoor Track 2017-18: Competed at five meets, including four times in the mile run…Made indoor debut at the TCNJ Winter Opener (Dec. 2), finishing ninth of 10 in the mile (5:19.06) and fifth of five with the 4x400 relay team (3:52.06)…Placed 26th of 31 at 1,000 meters (3:07.19) at the Fast Times Before Finals meet (Dec. 9)…Ran the mile at both the Gotham Cup (Jan. 19) and Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 3), finishing 44th of 46 (5:27.05) and 49th of 57 (5:22.53), respectively…Notched his PR of 5:16.79 in the mile, while finishing 15th of 15, at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19).
 
Cross Country 2017: Competed in all seven of the Scarlet Raptors’ 8K invitationals, finishing everywhere from third to fifth on the team…Placed third on the Raptors at both the Wilmington Invitational (Sept. 2) and the Bill Fritz Invitational (Sept. 16), finishing 23rd of 30 (36:25.37) and 116th of 161 (33:45.63) overall, respectively…Finished fifth on the Raptors and 112th of 151 overall (35:00.44) at the Osprey Open (Sept. 23)…Was 59th of 101 runners overall and fourth on the Raptors in a time of 34:42.9 at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial race (Oct. 7)…Posted his 8K personal best of 30:14.6, finishing fourth on the team and 218th of 250 at the Inter-Regional Border Battle (Oct. 14)…Recorded a time of 30:31.46 to place third on the Scarlet Raptors and 74th of 89 overall at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Oct. 28)…Finished fourth on the Rutgers-Camden team and 252nd of 290 overall (30:31.7) at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals (Nov. 11).
 
High School: Graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School in 2017…Earned six varsity letters, including four for cross country and two for track…First Team All-Conference in cross country as a senior.
