Shane Costello has earned two letters as a member of the Rutgers-Camden cross country program and one letter apiece with the indoor and outdoor track programs. He also has captured an academic honor as a member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

Indoor Track 2019-20: Competed in six meets, running everything from the 200-meter dash up through 800 meters, while establishing four PR times…His first PR, which was broken later in the season, came with a clocking of 1:04.84 at 400 meters (54th of 55 athletes) in the Fastrack Season Opener (Dec. 6)…Had a PR of 1:49.06 at 600 meters (27th of 28) while competing at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 13)…Ran 800 meters at the Dutchmen Invitational (Jan. 17), finishing 10th of 10 but posting a PR of 2:42.83…Placed 48th of 53 at 400 meters (1:07.14) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 25)…Set a 200-meter PR (28.86, finishing 64th of 65) and also placed 58th of 64 at 400 meters (1:06.25) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 8)…Ran both the 200 meters (33.56, 51st of 51) and the 400 meters (37th of 42, breaking his old PR with a time of 1:04.01) at the Susquehanna Invitational (Feb. 15).

Cross Country 2019: Opened the season at the 5K Bryn Mawr Invitational (Aug. 30), finishing sixth on the Scarlet Raptors and 87th of 107 overall (24:12.96)…Was fourth on the Raptors and 109th of 121 overall at the 8K Philadelphia Metro Invitational (Sept. 7) in a time of 40:34.8)…In his final complete race of the season, finished sixth on the team and 181st of 210 overall (36:47.16) at the 8K Osprey Open (Sept. 21)…Did not finish the Dan Talbot Open (Sept. 27).
Outdoor Track 2019: Competed in six meets, running at 1,500 meters in his first two meets and at 800 meters in the last four…Set his 1,500-meter PR of 5:32.12 in his first meet of the season, finishing 129th of 130 runners at the Danny Curran Invitational (March 30)…Posted a 2:33.26 clocking at 800 meters in his first 800-meter race, finishing 56th of 57 at the Osprey Open (April 13)…Notched his top 800-meter time of 2:29.36 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 5), finishing 36th of 36.

Cross Country 2018: Finished fifth on the Raptors four times and sixth on four other occasions as he competed in all eight fall invitationals…Notched a 5K time of 21:44.6 at the season-opening Bryn Mawr Invitational (Aug. 31), finishing sixth on the team and 67th of 103 overall…Placed fifth on the Raptors at the first two 8K meets of the season, the Philadelphia Metropolitan Invitational (Sept. 8) and the Delaware Invitational (Sept. 15)…Finished 119th of 135 (38:58.9) at the Philly Metro meet and 41st of 47 (37:21.1) at the Delaware Invitational…Finished sixth on the Raptors (36:24.85) and 90th of 112 at the Osprey Open (Sept. 22)…Ran his 8K PR of 35:17 at the Paul Short Run (Sept. 29), finishing sixth on the team and 260th of 292 overall…Was the fifth runner for Rutgers-Camden and finished 393rd of 400 at the Inter-Regional Border Battle (Oct. 13), posting a time of 36:11.0…At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Oct. 27), posted a 35:22.01 clocking to finish fifth on the team and 95th of 110 overall…Placed sixth on the team and 298th of 307 overall (37:31.0) at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals (Nov. 10).
