Tamia Taylor has been a busy student-athlete during her two years at Rutgers-Camden, competing two seasons with the outdoor track program and once apiece with the indoor track, cross country and basketball teams. Academically, she has earned three berths on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and captured New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention during the 2017-18 scholastic year.
Taylor has sophomore eligibility in indoor track and junior eligibility in outdoor track as she enters the 2018-19 scholastic year.

Outdoor Track 2018: Competed in the shot put at all six of her meets…Notched a PR of 8.99 meters to finish 24th of 43 shot putters at the Lions Invitational (April 28)…Opened the season with a shot put of 7.30 meters to place 12th of 15 at the Delaware Classic (March 24)…Finished 17th of 22 in the shot put (8.35 meters) at the Stockton Invitational (March 31)…Placed 22nd of 25 in the shot put (7.99 meters) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 6) and finished 26th of 35 with a shot put of 8.39 meters at the Osprey Open (April 14)…Closed her season at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 6), finishing 19th of 23 with a shot put of 8.44 meters.
Indoor Track 2017-18: Saw action in a pair of meets during her first indoor season, fouling in her attempt at the long jump during the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 20) and placing eighth of eight in the shot put (6.92 meters) at the Fastrack Last Chance meet (Feb. 24).
Outdoor Track 2017: Competed in six meets, including five as a long jumper…Also attempted the triple jump twice (fouling both times) and ran the 400-meter dash in 1:18.49 (placing 16th of 16) at the Stockton Invitational (April 1)…Set a personal best of 3.88 meters in her season-opening long jump competition at the Golden Rams Invitational (March 25), finishing 24th of 30, while also attempting the triple jump…Had a long jump of 3.79 meters at the Stockton Invitational to place seventh of eight…Finished 13th of 15 in the long jump (3.66 meters) at the Gwynedd Mercy Mid-Week Twilight Invitational (April 12) and 49th of 51 (3.46 meters) at the Widener Invitational (April 22)…Tried the triple jump at the Lions Invitational (April 29) before returning to the long jump (3.22 meters) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 6), finishing 17th of 17.
Basketball 2016-17: Played in five games, averaging 2.8 minutes and 1.0 rebounds…Added two assists…Made her debut with a brief appearance at Frostburg State (Nov. 19)…Played 10 minutes at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (Nov. 26), collecting three rebounds and two assists…Had one rebound apiece against Rowan University (Nov. 30) and King’s College (Dec. 1).
Cross Country 2016: Competed in a pair of 6K races at the Bill Fritz/Charlie Way Invitational at Rowan University (Sept. 17) and in the Jack Saint Clair Memorial in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park (Oct. 8)…In her first race, finished fourth on the Raptors and 125th of 148 runners, posting a time of 32:18.27…At the Jack Saint Clair Memorial, ran fifth on the Rutgers-Camden team and 138th of 160 overall (35:06.7).
High School: Multi-sport letterwinner at Atlantic County Institute of Technology, graduating in 2016…Lettered in basketball, cross country, track and lacrosse…Playing four years for Basketball Coach Jason VanderRyk, captured Second Team All-Conference Honorable Mention as a junior and a senior…Served as team captain…Played in the Cape-Atlantic League All-Star Game…Team rebounding leader…As a member of the Oakcrest High School track team, set the program record for the 400 hurdles… Went to Meet of Champions for triple jump…Ran cross country for the first time as a senior, became team captain and was the top runner, posting a personal best of 22 minutes…Qualified for First Team All-American for cross country, but missed qualifications due to injury...Won a $4,000 scholarship…Served as class Vice President during her freshman year.
