Biography

One of the top throwers with the Rutgers-Camden track program, Will Gross earned his second letter with the indoor team over the winter and would have completed his scholastic year with the outdoor team if the season hadn’t been cancelled by the coronavirus pandemic.
 
A Dean’s List student in the classroom, he has competed in the shot put and weight throw during the indoor seasons and has competed with both the shot put and hammer outdoors.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2019-20 scholastic year…Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, 2018 Fall, 2019 Spring, 2019 Fall and 2020 Spring semesters…Dean’s List during 2018 Fall, 2019 Spring and 2020 Spring semesters.
 
Outdoor Track 2020: Season cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Indoor Track 2019-20: Competed in eight meets in the shot put and added the weight throw at four of them during his strong sophomore campaign, setting a PR in both events…Capped his year with strong post-season performances at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 24) and the ECAC Championships (March 6-7)…At the NJAC meet, finished seventh of 32 in the shot put (13.03 meters) and 17th of 24 in the weight throw (10.60 meters)…At the ECAC meet on March 6, finished fifth of 15 in the shot put with a PR of 13.10 meters, while finishing sixth of 10 in the weight throw a day later with a distance of 13.12 meters…During the Raptors’ two December meets, finished 21st of 35 with a shot put of 11.28 meters at the Fastrack Season Opener (Dec. 6) and was 18th of 26 with a shot put of 10.94 meters at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 13)…Returning from the winter semester break, set a PR of 13.15 meters in the weight throw (finishing third of nine) and also placed seventh of 14 in the shot put (11.29 meters) at the Dutchmen Invitational (Jan. 17)…In back-to-back meets at Ursinus College, had a shot put of 12.09 meters (15th of 38) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 25) and a shot put of 11.99 meters (14th of 42) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 8)…In the final regular-season meet at the Susquehanna Invitational (Feb. 15), placed ninth of 31 in the shot put (12.42 meters) and 19th of 29 in the weight throw (12.33 meters).
 
Outdoor Track 2019: Competed in seven meets in the shot put, while also throwing the hammer at three of those meets and the discus on two other occasions…Made his outdoor collegiate debut at the Stockton Invitational (March 23), finishing 22nd of 26 in the shot put (10.29 meters)…Competed in both the shot put (14th of 18, 9.05 meters) and the hammer (15th of 15, 20.22 meters) at the Oscar Moore Open (April 5)…Set his PR in the shot put (10.64 meters) and finished 20th of 30 at the Osprey Open (April 13)…Set a PR of 29.77 in the hammer (23rd of 24) and also had a shot put of 10.00 meters (21st of 29) at the two-day New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 4-5)…Closed the season at the Swat Final Qualifier (May 13), competing in the shot put (13th of 13, 10.52 meters) and the discus (14th of 15 with a PR of 28.93 meters).
 
Indoor Track 2018-19: Competed in five meets in the shot put, while also competing three times in the weight throw…Made his collegiate debut at the TCNJ Open (Dec. 1), finishing 14th of 19 with a shot put of 9.34 meters…Competed in both the shot put (16th of 22, 10.57 meters) and the weight throw (12th of 16, 9.16 meters) at the Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 7)…Set a PR of 11.00 meters while finishing 11th of 25 in the shot put at the Albright Invitational (Feb. 9), while also finishing 12th of 17 in the weight throw (10.54 meters)…Closed his season at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 18), finishing 19th of 40 in the shot put (10.55 meters) and posting a PR of 10.69 meters in the weight throw (21st of 30).
 
High School: Earned two varsity football letters at Cherokee High School…Graduated in 2018.
 
Personal: Born October 7, 1999…Hobbies include fishing, working out, going down the shore and playing video games…Psychology major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to enter the law enforcement field…Older brother Matt also is a member of the Rutgers-Camden track program…Will is the son of Beth and Jeff Gross of Marlton.
