Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Amelia Sims served as the Scarlet Raptors’ starting center fielder in all four Rutgers-Camden games during the shortened 2020 softball season. A fine defensive outfielder, Sims hit second in the Raptor lineup and posted a 1.000 fielding percentage.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2019-20 scholastic year…Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and Dean’s List student for the 2019 Fall and 2020 Spring semesters…One of only 16 athletes on the 148-member 2019 Fall AD Honor Roll to earn a perfect 4.0 GPA…One of 47 athletes on the 171-member 2020 Spring AD Honor Roll to earn a 4.0 GPA.

Softball 2020: Started all four games in center field during the season which ended after four contests due to the COVID-19 pandemic…Hit .214 with two runs, one RBI, one double and one sacrifice…Had a .286 slugging percentage…Collected two putouts and one assist in three chances for a 1.000 fielding percentage…Made her debut in the season-opening doubleheader against SUNY-New Paltz (March 8), going 1-for-3 and adding two putouts in center field…Her first hit was a two-out single to center field in the bottom of the third inning…Went 0-for-4 in the nightcap of that doubleheader…In a twinbill against Gwynedd Mercy (March 10), went 0-for-2 with a sacrifice in the opener before notching her first multiple-hit game in the nightcap, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double and one RBI…Singled home a run in the second inning for her first RBI and later collected her first extra-base hit with a leadoff double to left center in the bottom of the fifth inning…Added her first collegiate assist when she threw out a runner at home after a first-inning single to center field.
