Biography

Caitlyn Kliniewski switched gears during her senior academic year at Rutgers-Camden, joining the track program after spending her first three years as a softball letterwinner. Kliniewski earned an indoor track letter over the 2019-20 winter and would have competed in the javelin during the outdoor season if the schedule hadn’t been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
 
During her three years as an outfielder for the softball team, Kliniewski appeared in 38 games, starting 10. She compiled a .273 career batting average, scored nine runs, collected one RBI and went 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts. A fine defensive outfielder, she compiled a 1.000 career fielding percentage with eight putouts and one assist in nine total chances.
 
Kliniewski has been one of the top student-athletes at Rutgers-Camden during her time on campus. A Dean’s List and Honors College member, she has earned numerous academic accolades with the New Jersey Athletic Conference, the ECAC and as a member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

Outdoor Track 2020: Season cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Indoor Track 2019-20: Competed in four meets in four different events…Made her collegiate track debut at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 13), finishing 26th of 30 in the shot put (5.35 meters) in her only time competing in that event…Ran in the 55-meter dash (9.69) at the Dutchmen Invitational (Jan. 17), finishing 17th of 17 in the preliminaries…Placed 52nd of 49 in her first 60-meter dash (10.37) at the Collegeville Classic (Jan. 25)…At the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 8), set a PR in both the 60-meter dash (10.35, finishing 23rd of 29) and with the 4x200 relay team (2:11.45, 17th of 19).
 
Softball 2019: Played in six games, starting two in right field…Started both ends of a split doubleheader down south on March 20 against Wesleyan and Stevenson, collecting one putout in the opener and two in the nightcap…Had her lone plate appearance of the season against New Jersey City University (March 30, Game 1), drawing a walk and scoring a run…Was used as a pinch runner in her final three games, getting a stolen base in her only attempt of the season against Catholic University (April 17)…Had three putouts for the season to conclude her junior season with her third consecutive 1.000 fielding percentage.
 
Softball 2018: Played in 11 games, starting six (five in right field and one in center field)…Hit .167 (2-for-12) with four runs scored…Walked once, had two sacrifices and compiled a .231 on-base percentage…Posted a 1.000 fielding percentage for the second straight season, notching four putouts in as many chances…Started the season opener in center field, going 1-for-2 with a putout and two sacrifices against St. Scholastica (March 11)…Scored a run as a pinch-runner against Emory & Henry (March 15) and later that day, started in right field and went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored against Clarks Summit…Had two putouts in the second game of a doubleheader at Kean University (April 28).
 
Softball 2017: Played in 21 games, starting two in left field…Used primarily as a pinch-runner and pinch-hitter…Hit .400 (4-for-10) with four runs, one walk and one RBI…Successful on her only stolen base attempt…Had one putout and one assist for a 1.000 fielding percentage…Had a .400 slugging percentage and a .455 on-base percentage…Made her collegiate debut as a pinch-hitter against Shenandoah (March 4), striking out in her lone at bat for her only strikeout of the season…Went 1-for-3 with a run and one RBI against Alfred State (March 11), entering the game as a pinch-hitter in the third inning, reaching on an error and scoring a run…Went to left field in the bottom of the third inning of that game and picked up an assist, throwing a runner out at third base who tried to advance from first to third on a single…In the fifth inning of that game, collected an RBI single to center field for her first collegiate hit…Went 2-for-2 against Franciscan (March 17) after entering the game as a defensive replacement in right field…Made her first collegiate start at Catholic University (March 30), going 0-for-2…Had a pinch-hit single and scored a run in the sixth inning against Stockton University (April 13, Game Two)…Made her second career start in left field against Kean University (April 29, Game Two), picking up her first collegiate putout.
 
High School: Earned four softball letters at Deptford High School for Coaches Mike Mullen and Mindy Coxe…All-Conference Second Team honoree as a senior…Participated in the Senior All-Star Game…Ranked sixth in her class with a 3.98 GPA…Member of the National Honor Society…Student Government President.
