Graduate student Allison Vaughan returns to the Rutgers-Camden coaching staff this season.

Vaughan, who graduated from the University of New Haven (Connecticut), in 2012, earned three softball letters as a catcher for the Division II Chargers.

During her freshman season in 2009, Vaughan played in 30 games, starting 20 at catcher. She hit .265 with 18 hits, five RBIs and four runs scored, while finishing third on the team with 154 putouts. As a sophomore, she started 36 games and hit .253 with seven runs and 11 RBIs, adding a team-leading 268 putouts.

During her junior season in 2011, Vaughan hit .235 while starting 27 of her 39 games. She had 14 RBIs and six runs, and finished fifth on the club with 68 putouts…

Over her three-year career at New Haven, the Chargers posted a 110-45 record, while she hit .250 (60-for-240) with 17 runs, 30 RBIs, nine doubles, one triple, a .296 slugging percentage and a .313 on-base percentage. Defensively, she compiled 490 putouts, 26 assists, two double plays and six errors for a .989 fielding percentage.

A three-year varsity softball starter at Shawnee High School in Medford, Vaughan captured First Team All-Conference honors during her junior and senior seasons after earning Second Team recognition as a sophomore. She served as the Renegades’ team captain during her senior season.

Vaughan also lettered on Shawnee’s volleyball team and was a member of FCCLA, the Buddies Club, the Threads and Yarns Club and the German Club.

Vaughan is a graduate student in the Chemistry Department at Rutgers-Camden.
