A Second Team All-American center fielder during her stellar two-year career at Cumberland County College, Gabrielle Castellini had an outstanding scholastic year after transferring to Rutgers University-Camden.

Academically, Castellini was a member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for both the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters during her junior year. She added AD Honor Roll recognition this year during the Fall 2017 semester.

On the softball diamond, Castellini was the Scarlet Raptors’ leading hitter among all regulars with a .336 average, while also pacing the team in hits (36), triples (3), total bases (49) and slugging (.458) and tying for the team lead in doubles (7).

In her combined three-year collegiate career, she has a slash line of .390/.454/.656 with 145 RBIs and 132 runs scored.

Softball 2017:  Played in all 36 games, starting 35 (was a pinch-hitter in one game)…Started 34 games in left field and one as the designated player…Hit .336 (36-for-107) with seven doubles, three triples, 12 runs and 15 RBIs…Had 49 total bases, a .458 slugging percentage and .388 on-base percentage…Led the team in batting average for all players with more than 10 at bats…Also paced the team in at bats, hits, triples and slugging, tied for the lead in doubles…Finished second on the club in RBIs and tied for third in runs scored…Added eight walks and one HBP…Successful on all three stolen base attempts…Had 30 putouts, two assists and one double play in left field…Led the team with nine multiple-hit games, including a 4-for-4 game with two runs, three RBIs and a pair of triples against Wisconsin-Stout (March 13), tying the program’s single-game mark for triples…Her four hits in that game were one shy of the program’s single-game record and capped her season-high seven-game hitting streak (13-for-23, .565)…Had a pair of three-RBI games, including that Wisconsin-Stout game and a contest against The College of New Jersey (April 5), in which she went 2-for-3 with one run and one double…Hit in the cleanup or No. 5 lineup spot in 29 of her 35 starts…Hit .714 (5-for-7) with a runner at third base and less than two outs…Advanced 30 runners in 66 opportunities (.455)…Notched a four-game hitting streak April 13-15, going 8-for-14 (571)…During that streak, had a pair of 3-for-4 games against Stockton University (April 13), collecting one RBI in each game, scoring a run in the opener and notching three doubles, including two in the nightcap…Doubled home the winning run in the top of the sixth inning as the Raptors beat The College of New Jersey, 7-6 (April 5, Game Two)…Notched her season high of four putouts against Case Western Reserve (March 4)…Threw out a runner at the plate in the third inning against Mount Saint Vincent (March 14)…Collected her double play with a first-inning putout and assist against Penn State-Abington (March 25, Game One), throwing out a runner returning to second base.

Pre-Rutgers: Played two seasons of softball at Cumberland County College…Captured Second Team All-American honors as a sophomore in 2016, when she hit .410 with 65 RBIs and 64 runs…Had a .497 on-base percentage and an .821 slugging percentage for an amazing 1.318 OPS (on-base plus slugging)…During her freshman season, hit .405 with 56 runs, 64 RBIs, a .451 on-base percentage and a .627 slugging percentage….In her two-year career, went 128-for-314 (.408) with 130 RBIs, 120 runs, 45 doubles, three triples, 16 home runs, a .474 on-base percentage, a .723 slugging percentage and a 1.197 OPS.

High School: Earned four varsity softball letters at Wildwood Catholic High School for Coach Les Olson…Captured First Team All-Conference and First Team All-South Jersey honors during both her junior and senior seasons.
