Biography

Katie Larson bounced back from a sub-par sophomore campaign to register an outstanding junior season in 2015, leading the team in numerous categories and earning two honors apiece as the New Jersey Athletic Conference and ECAC Division III Metro Player of the Week.
 
Early this season she will collect the 100th hit of her stellar career, becoming only the 13th player in program history to reach the century mark in hits.
 
Entering her fourth and final season at Rutgers-Camden, Larson owns a .295 career batting average and already ranks among the program’s all-time leaders in numerous categories. She is tied for the career lead with six sacrifice flies, is ninth with 77 RBIs (needing only 23 to become just the fourth player in program history to reach 100), ranks 10th with 166 assists, is tied for 11th with 18 doubles, tied for 12th with 133 total bases, ranks 13th with a .432 slugging percentage and is tied for 13th with six home runs. Larson’s 91 career hits rank 14th on the program’s career list and she also is on the charts with 308 at bats (17th) and 106 games (tied for 19th).
 
2736Softball 2015: One of five players to start all 35 games for the Scarlet Raptors…Finished second on the club with a .374 batting average…Led the team with 43 hits, 32 RBIs, 10 doubles, three triples, 68 total bases and a .591 slugging percentage…Tied for the team lead with three home runs…Finished second on the team with 55 assists (one behind leader Taylor Nichols), third in on-base percentage (.397) and tied for fifth in runs (18)…Her 10 doubles are tied for 16th on the program’s single-season chart…Her 32 RBIs were the 14th-best season mark at Rutgers-Camden and the most since Autumn Millett’s program-record 50 in 2007…Her 68 total bases are tied for the 18th-highest season mark in program history…Among New Jersey Athletic Conference players, tied for sixth in triples, finished ninth in slugging percentage and RBIs, tied for 10th in home runs, tied for 12th in doubles, 13th in batting average, tied for 13th in total bases, 16th in hits, 19th in assists, 26th in on-base percentage and 34th in runs scored…Hit a scorching .833 against left-handers, the fourth-highest mark in the NJAC…Finished seventh in the NJAC in batting average with two outs (.432), batting average with RBI opportunities (.479) and batting average with runners (.455)…Tied for seventh in the conference with 14 two-out RBIs…Was named the NJAC Player of the Week on both March 23 and April 27, adding ECAC Division III Metro Player of the Week honors on March 23 and April 28…Earned honors as Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on March 23…Led the team with 14 multiple-hit games and nine multiple-RBI games…Tied for the second-longest hitting streak on the team, an eight-game string from March 17-29, which included seven multiple-hit games…During that streak she hit .655 (19-for-29) with 15 RBIs and six runs, five doubles, two triples and one home run…Had three-hit games in four straight contests to start that hitting streak, going a combined 12-for-15 (.800) in that span…Went a combined 6-for-8 with four RBIs, two runs, two doubles, a home run and 11 total bases in a split doubleheader against Eureka College and Mount Saint Vincent (March 17)…Went 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs and four RBIs against York (NY) College (March 20)…Also had four RBIs in the nightcap of an April 23 doubleheader against Ramapo College, going 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run and two runs scored…Went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and one run in the second game of a twinbill at Montclair State University (April 11)…That game was part of a four-game hitting streak (9-for-15, .600) from April 9-14…Had another four-game hitting streak April 23-25, going 7-for-13 (.538)…Had her career high of seven assists (in seven chances) in the second game of a doubleheader against William Paterson University (April 18), only three assists shy of the single-game program record.
 
2737Softball 2014: Started all 33 of her games…Served as a tri-captain…Hit .209 with a team-leading 23 RBIs…Tied for third on the team in walks (14), tied for fifth in runs (13) and tied for sixth in doubles (3)…Tied for first on the club with two sacrifice flies, the sixth-highest single-season total in program history…Second on the team with four sacrifices…Had 24 putouts and placed second on the squad with 65 assists…Added two double plays…Collected four multiple-hit games and was second on the club with five multiple-RBI games…Her biggest game came in the opener of a March 31 doubleheader against New Jersey City University when she went 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk, two runs and four RBIs…Went 1-for-2 with a double, one run and one RBI in the nightcap…Went 1-for-2 with a walk and three RBIs against The College of New Jersey (April 8, Game One)…Had a three-game hitting streak April 26-29, going 4-for-7 (.571) with one run and five RBIs…Three of those RBIs came with a 2-for-3 performance against William Paterson University (April 29) as the Raptors upset the top-seeded Pioneers in the opening game of the NJAC playoffs…She also helped the club with her defense in that contest, turning double plays in the first and sixth innings to account for both of her DPs during the season.
 
Softball 2013: Played in 38 games, starting 36…Named team's Most Dedicated Player...Hit .280 with a .383 slugging percentage and a .322 on-base percentage…Tied for second on the team in RBIs (22), third in home runs (2) and tied for fourth in both runs (18) and doubles (5)…Defensively, finished third on the club with 46 assists…Also had 21 putouts and turned one double play…Compiled six multiple-hit games, including a 3-for-4 contest with two doubles, three runs and one RBI in the opener of a March 18 doubleheader against Southern Vermont College…Had six multiple-RBI games, the second-highest total on the team…Compiled a six-game hitting streak from March 17-21, going 8-for-17 (.471)…Made collegiate debut against Frostburg State (March 1), going 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI, while also collecting two assists…Made first start in the Raptors’ second game of that day, against Washington College, going 1-for-3 with one run…Had first multiple-RBI game against York (NY) College on March 2, going 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored…First multi-hit game came in a 2-for-4 performance against Wilkes University (March 3, Game One)…Had a season high of six assists in the opener of a doubleheader against Rowan University (April 23).
 
High School: Earned eight varsity letters as a multi-sport star at Delran High School…Four-year softball letterwinner for Coach Nancy Fanelli…Added two letters apiece in soccer and basketball…Earned All-Burlington County League First Team softball honors during both her junior and senior seasons…Also a Burlington County League First Team soccer goalie as a junior…Named to the  All-Group 2 First Team as a junior in the final year that the Courier-Post newspaper picked All-Group teams…Played in the Senior All-Star Game in soccer…A member of the Carpenter Cup team in softball…Honor Roll student.
